Oct. 17, 2008 - Pumpkins and Gourds
So much of my time goes to homeschooling, what is left goes to being a Wife,Mom,Sunday School Teacher, and Support Group owner/moderator. I see more and more each day that I need a few moments to myself. Some dear friends have been harping this to me for a few years now. I always loved crafts but do not have the time now.
My Dad grows his own gourds and makes Purple Martin Bird House's .I had been telling him for a few years now that I would like to do some gourd crafts. This year he showed up at my front door with about 20 gourds.
I have been looking for some fun fall craft projects using pumpkins and gourds. I wanted to share some really neat ones I have come across.

Preservation Tips for Pumpkins
This pumpkin flowerpot will look great when you first display it, but all pumpkins start to erode after they’ve been cut open. Help keep your pumpkin looking great with these simple tips.
- Pumpkins start losing their fresh look because they’re losing moisture. Spray your pumpkin with water every couple of days to keep it from drying out.
- Spread some petroleum jelly on all cut edges and the inside of your pumpkin to help prevent it from drying out.
- If you want, you can wipe down the sides of your pumpkin flowerpot with a little water and bleach to help prevent mold from growing on it.
These preservation tips will help your pumpkin last a little bit longer, usually about nine days. And you’ll love having it out by your front door that long, because in this season when everyone has a pumpkin out, yours will be truly unique.

I love carving pumpkins. It satisfies my inner sculptor. These are some great carvings. Some day I'll have the time and energy to be that elaborate!
I just copied the tag. I've been so busy. I'll try to get it up before the end of the week. Hope you are having a calm day!
Peace and Laughter,
