Jan. 29, 2009 - Lemonade Anyone ?
I have always tried to teach the kids to stand up for what they believe in . At our house we love animals and have been active in rescue of animals needing homes. I do what I can to bring awareness to our local Humane Society . I admire their work in saving as many animals as they can ,and finding them forever homes. We live in such a rural area and with all the jobs lost funds are pretty scarce. It takes a lot of money to feed and care for these animals until they find a home. Medical care for them is expensive .
When I found this Sunkist add I knew what we wanted to do. We are going to raise funds for Twin County Humane Society.
I shared this because as homeschoolers this is a perfect way to teach our children many lessons...
Math...you have to decide a price (you have to make a profit but clear what you have in your product) and handle your money.
Community/Culture....what better way to learn about your community than to have it come to you.
History of organization you are fundraising for. Pull out the old cookbooks and use Grandma's lemonade recipe for a little family history.
Life skills...you have to make the lemonade.
Health...safety/hygiene with food items is a must.
Art...gotta make those signs to alert community about your sale. Don't forget to do some flyers on the computer and email them out to your family and friends.
I am sure there are many others I haven't thought of yet.
