Confessions from the Rubber Room...

• Feb. 3, 2008 - Kissing the Messenger

I wish I had a picture that could sum up the last few weeks, but unfortunately I have not been present at any train wrecks, so this post will only show the rosey side of our lives.

I actually could show you a picture of my face, which in theory could sum it all up, yet I still hold onto a fraction of vanity, so you will have to use your imagination.

You see I had my tooth pulled two days ago, which was quite violent, yet painless and my face, atop the ten extra pounds I gained since November, and the water retention from PMS, looks like a very large basketball.  My dear mother looked at me as said, "Your face doesn't look swollen to me."  I replied, "Oh great, so your telling me my face looks this fat all the time?"  Thankfully my eldest showed up at the door yesterday and said, "Wow, your face is swollen."

I kissed her.

Aside from my own ailments, my Wee Bella is sick again for the third time this month, and the second case of the croup.  It is just an awful thing to watch your wee ones when they are sick.  I would gladly keep my basketball sized head longer just to have her well again.

It must sound as though I am complaining, but I am just reporting the facts.  I actually feel extrordinarily blessed amidst the sickness and chaos, but I am praying health for all.  We have had enough I tell you.

Oh no! That tooth! I am so sorry you have to deal with dental crap. No fun at all.

Praying little one gets over this quickly and that this will be the last sickness for a long time.

You are beautiful, swollen face or not!

Ouch! Sorry about your tooth and your swollen face... I can totally relate to the uh...chubby face. Not fat, mind you, but chubby-- there's a difference. Or so I'm told by my family and sisters!

We just got over a bout of the croup with my youngest. It seems to pop up out of nowhere... he's had it more times than I ever remember it happening with the other kids. Steamy bathroom and steroids if you got 'em.

I hope you have an uneventful week where everyone is back to their healthy selves!

I am sure it must be 'swollen face,' because the face I see during the week is a 'beautiful face,' which always has a smile and is wrapped in light!

Hope all of you are feeling better, we missed you today.

hugs to all of you

• Feb. 4, 2008 - Okay I am a little older

Wll a lot older, but I was wondering if anyone has told you how to make a croup tent? You build a blanket tent over their bed, using open umbrellas works very well and get a cool air humdifier and angle it so the mist goes in the tent. In my day they were hot steam humidifiers, but cool mist is safer.

You are both in my prayers. Hope you both feel better soon.

I will pray for you and Bella. I'm sorry, friend. This, too, shall pass.
