At that exact moment.
If you've done any witnessing you've heard all sorts of excuses about why people reject or delay Christ's salvation. You'll hear "I have my religion and I am happy", which follows all the reasons why they are 'ok', unfortunatly it is usually based on works and not what God says about salvation and Heaven. Or you might have heard "I am doing the best I can, I am sure God knows that". Or one I heard a long time ago by a twenty year old woman. "I still have l a lot of living to do before I worry about that'. Well did she? I don't know. At the time, she had multi- colored hair and had just gotten her tongue pierced. She was living all right! She could barely talk and she was still in pain from the piercing! I have no idea where she is or what she is doing now, but I pray she still has God's mercy on her life. Who knows, maybe she is saved now and living for Christ. I hope so. As I was thinking about her I thought about death and how quickly it could come. It can come with out notice. What could you do at that exact moment, anything? Would you cry out to God for mercy, would you have time to beg His forgivness for your sins? Would you even know how?
This might be a stretch, but let me use an example. I have trouble sleeping. Sometimes it takes a very long time (way into the night) before I can fall asleep. Eventually, I feel myself relaxing and then I am asleep. The exact moment that I fall asleep is always unknown, when a person falls asleep it's like a switch, it happens fast and though you're aware of the fact that sleep is coming you don't know when it will actually happen. Death is like that. Someday it's going to happen to all of us.We know this, however we don't dwell on that fact, (usually). Will we have time to prepare before we die or will death hit suddenly, with out warning? As long as you can read this you have time. If you've never asked God to save you, the now is the time. Tomorrow could be too late. 2 Corinthians 6:2... behold ,now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. Once we leave this planet it is to late to settle our eternity. God is not going to listen to the excuses we've used. He is not going to pull out a scale and see if our "good" (works) out weighs our bad (sin). He only cares about why we rejected his plan of Salvation (His son). God's already laid it out in his Word. He's already provide the gift of salvation through his Son.. We only have to accept His gift by repenting of our sins, asking for forgiveness and believing that he died for us. Then we live for Him, not for ourselves. Have you heard people say- God is a loving God, he would never send anyone to Hell. You're right, He does not send us. The rejection of His Son (the gift) & the lack of repentance on the part of the unsaved person does. But it does not have to be that way, it's up to each person to chose his eternity. God says, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.2Pe 3:9
Have you done that?
Kristy
