• May. 1, 2007 - What to write about...
What do I write about that would actually sound interesting to another homeschooling mom...
We are learning about Legos and Legoland...Why? Because next week we are going to Legoland in Southern California for Homeschool Days. They have two scheduled, May 11 and May 14...Friday and Monday. We will spend the two days in between the HS Days in San Diego, not plans yet.
We have been to LEGOland before and picked up a booklet on the park, so with that, and info from the internet the children are making lapbooks about LEGOs and Legoland. Yesterday and Today we studied about the founder of the company and the creation of LEGOs. Tomorrow I am going to have them make maps of the different parks around the world to add to their folders, and learn a bit about each country. We will also study about the different areas in "miniland" that focuses on different landmarks throughout the USA. I have have several ideas to do between now and when we leave next week. I just want it to be something that is different that our regular lessons.
Ok, what else to write about? I ordered the Alpha Omega items I needed that was on sale last week. Decided to only a couple of SOS subjects, (for Tyler) penmanship (both) and Horizons math (for Lauren). After much discussion I opted to order the the State History SOS, and decided to scrap the CA History we were using. Several reasons for this, one we weren't getting CA History done, so scrapped it. Tyler agreed to work on it now and through the summer. That gives him and I some time to learn how to use SOS. The Lauren can use it this next year or later on, haven't completely decided on her history for next year.
Let's see, we just celebrated our 16th Wedding Anniversary. We went to San Fransisco for the day on Friday, quite an experience (pics of Friday & Saturday at my knitting blog). Saturday we had busy day with the kids, but it was nice to have no plans and just enjoy making them up as we went!
In between legoland lessons, knitting, dance classes, laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, meal prep, I am trying to plan out the next couple of months. Much is happening so I need to plan my time well. Before I know it June will be here and we will move into summer.
How's that? Not all that exciting, but that is just a little bit of that couple of weeks.
