My Quivers Full - First Day Of School!

Jul. 30, 2007 - First Day Of School!

Here we are on our first day of our second year of homeschooling. Yes, we're starting earlier than many of you, but suprisingly many public schools around here start today too! No, not year round schools either, they started a few weeks ago. These poor kids! I'm so glad we homeschool, where we start early because we're taking time off in three weeks for a great vacation. We also take time off every six weeks or so, depending where the holidays fall.

To make our first day extra fun, we have a play date at the park with our homeschool group to get the wiggles out, then we're coming home to do a treasure hunt for their school supplies. Most of our time today will be taken up with review of our rules, and reviewing what they learned last year in various subjects to see how much they remember. (I do this with fear & trembling ) Also today, I'll be explaining to Big Man the things he'll be working on independently while I do one-on-one things with Little Monkey, as well as how his reading basket will work. I hope to have a weekly update of their studies. I know our families would be interested in seeing the actual work, instead of my explanations of what we've been doing.

With everything else that's been going on around here, I haven't been as excited as I had been earlier this summer about our second year. Now that today is here, I'm looking forward to getting back into our normal days. My only big fear this year is keeping Peanut busy. I dealt with this last year, and I got thru it right?! I'm glad he's a year older so there's more that will keep him occupied, and it should keep him occupied a little longer. The only down side is that he yells even louder than last year.
