Jan. 13, 2008 - It's a Girl!!
Well, I can no longer say I'm the only girl in my house. It's me and the dog now :)
Meet Ruby 
She's a 10 week old beagle mix. They think she's mixed with Lab, which is great in my book. I'm a sucker for both beagles and labs. Our problem right now is getting her past her young puppy biting stage. Okay, and housebreaking her. Once we're past those things she'll be a great little dog. She's got a very sweet temperment and is the quietest beagle I've ever seen. Her first night with us she only whimpered for a minute before settling down for the night. She didn't make a sound the rest of the night. I got her up to go outside at 5 a.m., then put her back in her cage. She was back to sleep before I was!
The kids just love her. They, too, will be happy when we can get her trained not to bite at our hands. She hasn't had all of her shots yet, so we can't take her for a walk. It'll be great once we can do that. Get's rid of some of that pent up energy, ya know? (for both kids and puppy)
The only concern we have with her is a tremor in one of her front legs. I'll be making a vet appointment for her first check up today. They'll check it out then. Hopefully it's just shaking like that because of excitement or something.
We're excited to have a little puppy again. I'm less excited than I was the last time we had a puppy, since this increases the interruptions and workload to my day significantly. Oh well, I'm happy with the trade. She's a sweet little dog, and is going to be a great companion to our kids.

Ruby is beautiful! Congratulations on your new addition!
Keep handing her things she can chew. ;) Sounds like it'll pass soon enough. The potty training is where I start to have trouble. It can be an interruption in the school day. But, it sure makes a great reward for work well done, too.
Hope this goes easily for you all! She sure is CUTE!
