Nov. 2, 2008 - October Miscellany
This has been quite a busy month. We traveled to Indianapolis with Daddy for a couple of days this week. I took quite a few pictures. None of them turned out except this one:
This would be a picture of our makeshift picnic breakfast in the hotel room. My hubby warned me that room service was way overpriced (a 2 pancake, scrambled eggs & O.J. breakfast for $16!). I packed a little dry cereal and some granola bars. We picked up some small containers of white and chocolate milk at the gas station. Voila!! breakfast
There wasn't a table or chairs, so we threw down a towel and had a picnic. The kids thought this was fantastic.
I had hoped to go to Connor Prairie (an early American settlement/"living museum"), but it is only open on the weekends now that it's cold outside. Oh well, we'll go back in the spring. Instead, we decided to spend the day at one of our favorite day trip spots, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. We had a great time as usual. I'm not sure why it was so busy this day, but we still had fun. The next day we decided to check out the Indianapolis Zoo. We absolutely loved the aquarium. The dolphin show was fun, we stumbled upon a walrus demonstration that was really neat, and best of all, they had a huge shark petting area!! Anyone who knows Big Man knows how over the moon this made him. Best of all, their shark petting area was set down lower which made it much easier for Little Monkey to feel comfortable reaching in. He finally petted his first shark
, then another, then another, then another . . . well, you get the idea.
Also this month we made our first homemade applesauce:
This was the most scrumptious applesauce!! A huge hit with the whole family. Both Big Man and Little Monkey helped make it and had a great time doing it. We're already almost out.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to a couple of our little pets. You see, my poor hubby woke up one morning and stumbled to the bathroom to find a little something waiting for him just inside the door:
I had already told the kids that once the little crayfish got big enough to crawl out of the tank, they'd have to go back where they came from! They were fun little guys to have. Watching them do their building was really interesting. I cannot, however, make myself have pets that will pinch your toes if they get out of their tank!
I have some pictures to load of a really fun Saturday field trip we did a couple of weeks ago. That will be up next.

I think the crawfish would have to go soon at my house too!
Looks like a full and fun month.
