I'm thinking this assignment might be fun. I wanted it to be since the last two I've done seemed to be more serious. I've still not decided, even as I'm typing what to do for this week. I need someone to bounce ideas off of...my husband is so agreeable and just loves to do whatever pleases me. I wonder if Tamara had someone like that~~~Now for the assignment:
For this assignment I wanted to see who's got the funniest, craziest, saddest, most creative or just best story about the family button box, button can or button jar. I love buttons! Any kind, any color, any size but mostly the vintage ones. So, I thought it would be fun to tell stories about or show pictures of our button boxes, cans, or jars. You can share pictures or not, but personally, I don't have any pictures right now...I did find a really pretty graphic of one though, that I love and decided to use it for this weeks tag-a-long banner. While you're doing the assignment go to five friends blog, that aren't doing the BFS and encourage them to sign up and have fun with us. Leave a comment and link back to the assignment, please.
For my assignment:
When I was a little girl we used to travel about 5-6 hours to visit my grandparents. I always loved going to my grandma's house because she had tons of fun things to do. We sewed with her and played out in the yard with my granddaddy and they would take us shopping sometimes. My granddaddy collected stamps and had tons of them, some were very expensive but my grandma had the better collection of beads and buttons. Every time we ever visited my grandma she would pull out her beads and buttons and we'd always make some kind of craft with them; necklaces, bracelets, clip on earrings My sisters and I just loved her button jar. My mom had one too and I always marveled at the difference sizes, shapes and colors of all her buttons. We weren't allowed to play with my moms because she used them for all the clothes she made us. I need to start my own button jar because I know my daughter is fascinated with buttons as much as I was and she would love helping me to fill the jar.
Have fun telling your stories and showing your pictures if you'd like. Don't forget to add your favorite verse for this assignment.
Proverbs 31: 23-26 -
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
My buttons have been dumped into a box filled with lace and ribbons. I'll have to snap a photo of the mess. And I'll be thinking of a story I can share. Then, I'll be back to sign Mr. Linky.

I enjoyed reading about your family memories.
I kind of had a hard time thinking about what to write for this assignment, but once I got started it was fun. Thanks.
When I look at one page on your website about "Buttons", I'm not listed on Mr. Linky (but many more are) - then I go to make a comment, and I am (along with only two others!! What is happening? Do I need to link again?

Nancy, have you seen the Yarnharlot? She just posted yesterday about buttons http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2008/02/20/button_button_whos_got_the_button.html
Hi Nancy! Thank you for the compliment you left on my blog of my eclipse pictures. My husband bought me a Olympus sp-550 UZ for Christmas. I am very excited about the pictures because it was my first time I actually got to see how good the zoom is!
I cannot get the thing to show up on my blog to say I am doing blogger friend school. It just shows an X but if you click it then it goes to Training hearts. What am I doing wrong because I do want to start doing this. Please Help?
We're just commenting on people's blogs to let them know about our HSB reporting blog. We basically report on recent, (even random) events about different bloggers and their latest posts and such. Let us know if you would like to be included in our reports (you can visit our blog for more information)...
I made a little change with my Friends List. It's on the left side and to open it just click on the word "Friends" and it pops out! Neat, huh! To close it click on it again! Thank you

Seven Steps to Raising Godly Children
Principle - Impart God's word on your children and live in a way that you are their greatest example of what a Christ-abiding parent should be.
Pattern - Teach your children a pattern of prayer; when to pray, how to pray, and why prayer is important.
Persistence - Don't ever give up...teach your children to always have faith and not to give up when things get hard.
Participation - Our children crave our attention! The way our children see us is the way they'll see God in thier lives.
Praise - Encourage children, praise them when they do something right and help them when they have a hard time.
Prayer - Teach your children to pray and then to TRUST God for the outcome.
Priority - Make God the Head and Heart of your home and let them live with God's desire coming first in your lives.
