Hello everyone! I thought it would be nice to get to know one another's Favorite Bible Story...not necessarily a story in the Bible but the story of what your favorite Bible verse or story is and why. This will probably be a very easy assignment for us all but with warmer weather well on it's way, I know how hard it is to stay indoors, even for school work. Have fun with it and remember we only have two more BFS assignments left!
Here's mine:
I always loved the story of Ruth and Naomi. The way she was willing to let her daughter-in-law go on to begin a new life after the death of her husband and son. That's just a beacon of what true love is about. I guess by that my favorite verse should be 1 Corinthians 13 and the rules of love, however, my favorite verse is Philippians 4:13. I love this verse perhaps because my mom and dad always told my sisters and I that when we grow up we can do or be anything we want! The word can't or cannot was simply not allowed in our home. My dad's famous words were, "can't ain't a word!" In the same sense Ruth's testimony of love is the same as the ideas that I have about Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Ruth knew that she had to go on with her life even after losing her husband and her son and she didn't want to keep Naomi from being able to have a new start for herself. Full circle.
I love the way you explained how you see the story of Ruth and Naomi. Your father is a wise man teaching you about possibilities. Thanks for hosting this for us. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Have a blessed day.
Good assignment!! I was able to get mine up much quicker than usual too. ;~)
"I can do all things through Christ" is one of my favorites also - and was one of the influences in my choice of screen-name "kympossible" but I chose a different story to blog about today.
Haven't been well for the past month! Got some sort of virus, so just concentrated on educating my son during that time. Now I'm back - feeling much better and getting back "into the swing" of things.
Great assignment!

We read the book of Ruth at Shavuot(Pentecost) because it's the picture of a wedding - like the picture of the betrothal atMt. Sinai - when Ruth says to Naomi - Your people will be my people, your God will be my God - this is her salvation moment, this is when she chooses to lay down her old ways - her pagan gods - and chooses to submit to the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. She chooses to leave her people, and chooses to become an Israelite and take on their customs, learning little by little the ways of the Israelites, and then marries Boaz and becomes part of the ancestral lineage of King David and our Messiah Yeshua. - no longer a Gentile, now an in-grafted member of of the House of Israel, exactly what Romans 11 is talking about.
Ya, the book of Ruth is pretty special!, and yet, it's considered one of those EXTRA books - not part of the Histories, and not part of the books of Prophecy, but because it's linked to the story of David, the Christian Bible places it just before 1 Samuel, but the Jewish Bibles have it placed as separate scrolls - called Megillot - after Psalms Proverbs and Job, wedged in between Song of Songs and Lamentations and then Ecclesiastes and Esther. It's a book which can stand on it's own to tell the Gospel story!
I made a little change with my Friends List. It's on the left side and to open it just click on the word "Friends" and it pops out! Neat, huh! To close it click on it again! Thank you

Seven Steps to Raising Godly Children
Principle - Impart God's word on your children and live in a way that you are their greatest example of what a Christ-abiding parent should be.
Pattern - Teach your children a pattern of prayer; when to pray, how to pray, and why prayer is important.
Persistence - Don't ever give up...teach your children to always have faith and not to give up when things get hard.
Participation - Our children crave our attention! The way our children see us is the way they'll see God in thier lives.
Praise - Encourage children, praise them when they do something right and help them when they have a hard time.
Prayer - Teach your children to pray and then to TRUST God for the outcome.
Priority - Make God the Head and Heart of your home and let them live with God's desire coming first in your lives.
