Jun. 28, 2008 - Updates

In the Nook...

I should have updated before now but I wanted to only update when I had definite answers to give you.  My daughter is doing much much better now.  Thank you all for your prayers, emails and encouragement.  I've really needed to feel that the Power of Prayer was enough!  I've taken her off all medicines and she's doing well without them.  We found out that she was not only having an interaction from the other antihistamines but also from the inhaler (steroid) and that was probably making things worse than what they already were.  I'm in the process of working with a friend that studies natural herb remedies and homeopathic remedies.  My daughter was/is still having some nervousness but we've been using an essential oil called Peace and Calming that can be purchased here and is very very effective!  (If you go to their website it's most effective to chose your country or you are likely to spend minutes upon minutes just clicking links and getting nowhere).  The Peace and Calming oil have been great for her sleep too.  Some of the oils are pricey but for the relief my family and I have had from this few drops of oil it would be very worth it if I had to purchase more.

Kelsey had to give up her camp plans for July for this year.  She even felt it was the best thing to do since she's been so sick this month.  I'm happy she'll be home and at the same time I'm sad that she's going to miss the opportunity too.  There will probably be more chances for her to go later on.

More on the homefront:  My hubby almost has the new section of the deck built and in doing so, he's discovered that he's going to have to replace the old part as well.  It seems to have some rotting going on underneath it.  He's been soooo terrific during this whole process and has told me that he plans on adding a pergola to it when he's finished with the decking part of it.  The side of the house it's on gets a really nice morning sunrise but around noon it's tremendous heat and takes until about mid-day before it finally is cool enough on that side to enjoy sitting outside.  We're getting antsy about getting it all done...every day is a new anticipation of being done.

your daughter is feeling better.

My oldest has trouble sleeping for some reason. Someone told me it's a growing thing. I need to look into natural alternatives to help her. I know there are some things out there with the same ingredient that is found in turkey, that makes you sleepy and it's all natural.

I am so with you on trying to stay away from medicine as much as you can.

I just had a wonderful hubby incident, so I blogged it.. in honour of your With Pleasure series...

I'm glad Kelsey is doing better. There's a spray called Rescue Remedy that you can spray in your mouth when you get that nervous antsy feeling, helps calm you down. It's like using a breath freshener... but it's a mood freshener.. lol

Thanks for sending that article on Calcium. I'll have to get some liquid calcium for my birth. I have great births, but every little bit helps!!

what a scary experience for your daughter! I'm glad to read that she is doing better.
I know it is exciting with the deck improvements...we are currently in the midst of building a deck on the back of the house to replace the one we tore out last summer. It was falling apart. Hopefully by the end of July it will be done! Like you, I look forward to enjoying my deck A LOT!

Seven Steps to Raising Godly Children

Principle - Impart God's word on your children and live in a way that you are their greatest example of what a Christ-abiding parent should be.

Pattern - Teach your children a pattern of prayer; when to pray, how to pray, and why prayer is important.

Persistence - Don't ever give up...teach your children to always have faith and not to give up when things get hard.

Participation - Our children crave our attention! The way our children see us is the way they'll see God in thier lives.

Praise - Encourage children, praise them when they do something right and help them when they have a hard time.

Prayer - Teach your children to pray and then to TRUST God for the outcome.

Priority - Make God the Head and Heart of your home and let them live with God's desire coming first in your lives.
