Assignment: This would be a good week to tell about your worst struggles with a lifestyle of homeschooling. Tell about something you’ve struggled with and how God’s mercies gave us the strength to get past it. Also, share any curriculum/homeschool methods that have been a relief to you, i.e., a particular Teacher’s Manual or Homeschooling method that’s been easier for your family. Talk about how you felt when the burden was lifted and Oh, What a Relief it is!
I think my biggest relief was when I actually turned over our homeschooling to the Lord and let Him have control. I always thought I had given it to God, but if I had there wouldn't feel like there was something missing from our homeschool all the time, so I know I wasn't. Another factor for our homeschooling was getting into our co-op with which we could have support from people who desire to have the same lifestyle that we have. It was nice to know that I could call from 1 - 30+ women for guidance, reassurance, and emotional support on those really tough days. Cindy West was always there for me and gave me lots of hugs and tissues and support whenever I needed it. Thank God for blessing my life with her!
My verse: James 1: 12 - Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
BFS #101 - Plop, plop, Fizz, fizz, Oh, What a Relief It Is!
Nancy, This is my first year with BFS. I am enjoying meeting other homeschool families here on the web. I have a pretty large homeschool co-op, but some co-ops tend to follow trends. There seem to be a larger variety of experiences amongst the online community.
Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. I finally figured out how to add the graphic to my sidebar. LOL Also, I posted my first assignment. I think this is going to be a blast.
You'll see from my first assignment that I struggled with the lesson you've learned. I've also learned that lesson (giving God control of my home school instead of trying to figure it out myself). It was a tough lesson to learn, and one I'm sure will be a work in process.
Nancy. What great encouragement! I am looking forward to support from fellow co-op moms this year as I am in my first real year of homeschooling.
Could you also help me with the code. No matter what I've tried whenever I put the code in my post for the picture it just shows "photobucket" with an x in it...no picture.
unfortunately, I have not had the best. When you find a good one-it can make all the difference. I agree-when God takes over in the driver's seat-things improve dramatically.
Blessings
Repetition is big! It also depends on what the problem is one of our biggest problems is math. We let her use calculators, math tables and anything that will help. But the key is her showing us how to do the problem.
as well. I wish you well. It was a joy to read your blog. Also I agree its so nice when you can call on a friend or several for any help you need or a boost of confidence!
I guess one of my biggest struggle with Homeschooling is letting God have control over it. I am always saying "I" can't do this, and why won't this work for "Me". If I would just learn to give everything over to God and let Him handle it, what a difference that would make!
It's so nice to hear of other's solutions to issues we all face. Isn't life always so when God is in control? Thanks for sharing your thoughts and pointing out a great passage.

You are most welcome to copy the paragraphs that you found meaningful in my blogger friend post about struggles as a homeschooler. I really am enjoying the assignments. I read your story yesterday! God bless and thanks for commenting.

Ahhh...how refreshing, turn it over to God. Such a simple thing, yet I struggle every day with this. I am ashamed to admit it, but it is true. Thanks for sharing.

I just met Cindy at the CHEK conference this year! I had actually seen her blog before but had no idea that she was in my area. She is a great inspiration!
yes, turning it over to the Lord. How easy it sounds but how bad I am for remembering to do it. I wait until the stress is over the top and then turn to Him. Need to turn to Him before and always.
God Bless
I made a little change with my Friends List. It's on the left side and to open it just click on the word "Friends" and it pops out! Neat, huh! To close it click on it again! Thank you

Seven Steps to Raising Godly Children
Principle - Impart God's word on your children and live in a way that you are their greatest example of what a Christ-abiding parent should be.
Pattern - Teach your children a pattern of prayer; when to pray, how to pray, and why prayer is important.
Persistence - Don't ever give up...teach your children to always have faith and not to give up when things get hard.
Participation - Our children crave our attention! The way our children see us is the way they'll see God in thier lives.
Praise - Encourage children, praise them when they do something right and help them when they have a hard time.
Prayer - Teach your children to pray and then to TRUST God for the outcome.
Priority - Make God the Head and Heart of your home and let them live with God's desire coming first in your lives.
