Sep. 18, 2008 - Me and my baby girl~

Posted in Family

In the Nook...A few mornings ago I was helping my hubby with some of his school work at his computer and my daughter decided she needed a rest, IN MY LAP!  I love it when she gets all cuddly and lovable all over me.  It's so wonderful knowing that God trusted me enough to be her mom!

In the Nook...

I should have updated before now but I wanted to only update when I had definite answers to give you.  My daughter is doing much much better now.  Thank you all for your prayers, emails and encouragement.  I've really needed to feel that the Power of Prayer was enough!  I've taken her off all medicines and she's doing well without them.  We found out that she was not only having an interaction from the other antihistamines but also from the inhaler (steroid) and that was probably making things worse than what they already were.  I'm in the process of working with a friend that studies natural herb remedies and homeopathic remedies.  My daughter was/is still having some nervousness but we've been using an essential oil called Peace and Calming that can be purchased here and is very very effective!  (If you go to their website it's most effective to chose your country or you are likely to spend minutes upon minutes just clicking links and getting nowhere).  The Peace and Calming oil have been great for her sleep too.  Some of the oils are pricey but for the relief my family and I have had from this few drops of oil it would be very worth it if I had to purchase more.

Kelsey had to give up her camp plans for July for this year.  She even felt it was the best thing to do since she's been so sick this month.  I'm happy she'll be home and at the same time I'm sad that she's going to miss the opportunity too.  There will probably be more chances for her to go later on.

More on the homefront:  My hubby almost has the new section of the deck built and in doing so, he's discovered that he's going to have to replace the old part as well.  It seems to have some rotting going on underneath it.  He's been soooo terrific during this whole process and has told me that he plans on adding a pergola to it when he's finished with the decking part of it.  The side of the house it's on gets a really nice morning sunrise but around noon it's tremendous heat and takes until about mid-day before it finally is cool enough on that side to enjoy sitting outside.  We're getting antsy about getting it all done...every day is a new anticipation of being done.

Jun. 21, 2008 - My Hubby and My Daughter

Posted in Family

In the Nook...

Just a quick update on my daughter's condition and then I'll do my post on my husband.  My daughter seems to be eating better and she is still drinking lots of water.  She slept through the night last night for about 6 hours and then this afternoon she slept for 5 hours.  She got up and we sat on the swing outside and cooked hot dogs over a fire afterwards we had roasted marshmallows!  She had some beef stew that was leftover from yesterday when she first woke up and about 7-8 we had the hot dogs.  She seems to still be a little disoriented and some anxiety, but compared to what she was going through earlier in the week she's almost back to her old self!  It was so nice to see and hear her laughing again tonight and her friend came over and  stayed with us for the cookout and they joked around somewhat.  It was a very nice evening and I can only praise God and all the prayers from everyone for helping us to get through the worst of this.  Now, I have another request for prayer.  A dear and close friend of our family's son got hurt tonight.  He's 3 years old and was playing in the barn while his daddy was working on treating some Alfalfa Hay when one of the bales of hay fell on his back.  He was stooped down with his back facing upward and was playing in the dirt.  He was complaining of his neck hurting him but not his back.  I've tried to call to find out how he's doing but cannot get an answer.  I'm praying that this will be nothing more than just soreness and nothing major comes from it.  This family has suffered so much in the last 2 years.

Now, on to tell about my hubby!  I cannot say enough about just how wonderful my hubby is.  The other day he was building new steps onto the deck since we had taken the old ones out, well, when he saw me twist my ankle going down them, because they were too steep, he decided today that he was going to take them apart and rebuild them for me.  Now, they're much easier to get up and down on and not steep at all.  That's one of the million things that I love so much about him, he's very detail-oriented and notices when something that isn't working out needs to be redone.  He rarely complains to me or anyone about anything and I do mean anything!  I'll be back tomorrow to write more.  Have a nice night and a wonderful Lord's day!

Jun. 20, 2008 - My Husband and Updates

Posted in Family

In the Nook...

My husband is outside painting the new window he put in for me a couple of months ago.  We had so much rain during the process that he had to wait to even seal it tightly to keep the elements from coming in.  Then we had more rain and he couldn't paint it, so when it was dry enough it was too hot and I wouldn't let go out and work in the heat.  Today is the first day of summer and it feels like an early fall morning...it's very nice out and a hazy sunny morning.  My husband got up and made coffee and cooked breakfast for us today too, he made potato cakes from our leftover mashed potatoes last night.  I had written an entry yesterday but I am thinking that with all the suffering our daughter is going through I must have forgotten to hit the Add New Entry button after Previewing the Entry.  It was actually pretty short but it said that I'm so thankful for having such a patient and loving husband.

I know in my heart, whereas I didn't know in the past, that God has hand-picked my husband for me.  There were many years during our childhood that we were as close as 20 miles from each other and never met until 2003!  He was born and lived in Indiana for a few years of his babyhood and toddler years and then moved to FL and back to IN and then on to KY.  He's been consistently in KY since he was around 23 years old.  I lived in the south and moved to KY when I was 19 and moved back down to SC in 1979 after my dad passed and lived there alone for 8 years and moved back to KY to be near my family in 1989.  It's just so justified how we could meet because of our Lord and at the same time because of how our parents moved us around so much it's a wonder we ever met at all.  During my childhood I moved about every two years, my dad was a Marine and was constantly being shipped between North and South Carolina.  I went to so many schools I lost count after about 12 of them.  It's sad my parents didn't think about homeschooling us because we moved around so much.  My husband's family moved around just because his father couldn't keep a good job anywhere and they had family in places that they moved to that they could stay with for a while and then move on if things didn't work out.  Why am I writing all this and letting everyone read it?  No reason really, except to show that God is a mighty strength and intentional God, even in the midst of all our controlling mindset and lifestyles.

My daughter experienced God's power for the first time last week while she was at camp.  She goes to signing camp at a Christian camp for youth every summer.  You can read about her experience on her blog.  She's still in awe, as is her friend April, who is the Dean over the Deaf and Signing Camps every year.  God used my little girls prayers to heal April's sons hearing, he was born deaf and mute, and now he hears and can speak a few words.  April called us yesterday so she could pray with us over Kelsey and praise God with us over how God has used Kelsey. All this just because God wanted to and because he can!

My daughter has taken very ill the past few days because of some medicine her allergy doctor put her on, the details are in the post below this and the post won't stay there long.  I know once she is feeling better she'll be checking my blog daily for what I have written about and I don't want her to feel embarrassed about what she's experiencing.  She got up and down most of the night and was up this morning before 7:00 and dressed, had her room clean and her bed made and ate breakfast by 7:30.  She's still experiencing hallucinations and the pharmacist told me that she should have never been put on this medicine because of the Singulair that she's been taking for over a year for asthma.  I may never put her back on any of the meds she's been on.  If she gets sick and needs something then there are many natural ways that I have the knowledge and ability to use instead of giving her drugs.  I'm praying about that as well!  Well, this has been a long post and I'm pretty tired from not resting much the past few days.  I hope you'll go and read about my daughter's experience at camp!  It's truly amazing and you'll be blessed by it too.  Have a great day!!!

Jun. 20, 2008 - Somebody goofed!

In the Nook...

I'm not much on blogging since I'm working on so many designs right now.  My daughter has had a really bad reaction to her new allergy medicine and it's given us quite a scare.  It's called Lodrane 24D and she's having hallucinations, hearing things, dizziness, confusion, and just overall bizarre things happening to her.  We've been detoxing her today and she's been off all meds and we may then work her back onto them one at a time.  The last three days have been very scary for us...we first noticed the difference in her on Tuesday afternoon, she became very moody and crying all the time, and my daughter rarely cries over anything.   She's not sleeping very well so I let her sleep for about three hours today and she's in and out of bed once already.  I've not had much sleep either because I've been sleeping on the couch to make sure my daughter doesn't wander outside in the night and cause herself to get lost in the woods because she loves being out in them so much.  Have I mentioned that I'm really scared for her right now?

Jun. 17, 2008 - With Pleasure ~ Day 2

Posted in Family

In the Nook...

I'm a little late getting this in on the second day...about 10 minutes.  The one thing I love MOST about my husband, besides the whole Jesus factor, is that he is so amazingly patient with my daughter and I.  We love playing practical jokes around our home.  It also extends further than our home as many of our friends know.  First of all I have to tell you, at 7am this morning  I showed my husband a Maze game on the computer and wanted him to try and work through it.  I honestly thought he'd get through in no time flat!  He's really good at games, almost any kind of game, whereas for me,  I'm only really good at puzzles and word games.  Anyway, he sat for 30-45 minutes trying to get through this maze.  It's only 3 levels but if you barely touch the sidewalls it starts all over again.  He finally got through it and we laughed so hard for almost two hours over how long it took.  It's Here if you want to try it, but please watch out that your children are not reading all the crud around the side of the screen if you go to it....I don't know why people can't just make good, fun games without the language and half nude women on the screens too.

My husband is the world's greatest!!!
Be blessed!

Seven Steps to Raising Godly Children

Principle - Impart God's word on your children and live in a way that you are their greatest example of what a Christ-abiding parent should be.

Pattern - Teach your children a pattern of prayer; when to pray, how to pray, and why prayer is important.

Persistence - Don't ever give up...teach your children to always have faith and not to give up when things get hard.

Participation - Our children crave our attention! The way our children see us is the way they'll see God in thier lives.

Praise - Encourage children, praise them when they do something right and help them when they have a hard time.

Prayer - Teach your children to pray and then to TRUST God for the outcome.

Priority - Make God the Head and Heart of your home and let them live with God's desire coming first in your lives.
