Nov. 2, 2007 - Wheel Bug on our porch
We found this critter on our porch today. It is a Wheel Bug, which is in the family of Assassin Bugs, like the Stink Bug, Water Strider and Bed Bugs.
A (6 y.o.) has a bug cage that he puts his captured critters in for a few days. He's pretty good at catching moths, flies, spiders, lady bugs, etc. to feed these temporary pets. This summer he's had a couple grasshoppers, a frog, and a preying mantis.
I told him, this time, be careful - that 'beak' can be used as a stinger that hurts '10 times worse than a hornet sting'.

You know you are right! I saw that the list had been rearranged but I didn't examine it closely... I think the last time I read you the kids were asking you to have a black baby 'cause you didn't have one of those yet... LOL I have not been coming to HSB site as there were so many difficulties. I am not alowed to visit several sites until I log in... even tho I'm logged in! And too, I have to be a member! I have put all those I can on Google Blogger and go there to read. Some sites won't let themselves be added though so I don't read them daily. I will see if your site will be added. I always enjoyed keeping up with your doings'.
Be Blessed,
Miss Meg

Well I can't find you! I've been all over my blog and according to it you ain't never been a friend of mine!!!
I have removed a few because they are no longer blogging... I wonder who else I've lost and didn't know it! I tried to put your blog on my Google Reader and it wouldn't take it -- in fact Thursdays Thirteen Meme blog kept popping in -- that might not be the exact name but it was strange and not you.
I guess I will have to add you all over again all by myself. It's a lot of work..grumble, grumble, grumble. And I am not passive aggressive, I'm non- confrontational and a "Stuffer" which is the opposite of a Volcano [which I married].

Fantastic photo of the wheel bug! I wouldn't want to go anywhere near it though ;) Lynn from eclecticeducation 's son got stung by one earlier this year and the side effects that it can cause you are very scary. Thank goodness he escaped with hardly any pain at all. I'm so glad to hear that he has carefully captured it without harm!
Blessings,
