Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Thursday, November 12, 2009 - Positive or Negative?

Posted in Blogging Frog

This is an audience participation post. (Actually all my blog posts are!)  I have a practical question at the end, but I can never simply and directly get to the point.  I've got to ramble first and show pictures.

Speaking of pictures--have you ever noticed that photo negatives are rather disturbing?  They have a disquieting way of turning familiar people and animalsinto freakish creatures with black cavernous mouths and spooky white eyes.

These particular shots were eerily fascinating to me in negative form:

Positive or Negative

The "positive" of these pictures are less otherworldly and marine.  (I live in Wyoming; marine life is otherworldly.)  In fact the photos are commonplace, flat and the lighting was awful.  These pictures were taken in the loft of our barn, not because I think they'd be interesting photographic subjects, but because I'm hopeful that others can help me identify them.

We are cautious going up to the barn loft these days, choosing cool days when the wasps will be sluggish.  Attached to the door of the loft are the following homes.

Who lives here?

Ok, so here's my question: what inhabits these dwellings?  I'm pretty sure at least one of the types is a wasp nest.  We'd like to evict our unwelcome waspish tenants, but we don't want to mistakenly vanquish any little honey bee friends.

In short, are they positive or negative?

Nov. 12, 2009 - Just Some Evidence

Posted in Spiritual Life

Trinity:

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

The man was accountable:

Gen 2:16 The Lord God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."

There is so much I see here. I love the differences in roles of husbands and wives. They glorify God. In the beginning the differences began.

Gen 2:22 The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

Gen 3-Eve added to what God said. She, like many wives today, first listened to what she shouldn't have, then doubted God, then added to what God said. Why did God not show the man to be deceived? There is significance here.

Gen 3:6 Eve had so many reasons to justify her actions. So many times we wives do the same thing with why we want to be leading our families rather than our husbands. Those reasons can't stand up to this or Gen 3:16 '...Yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.' How many times do wives gloss over that last part? RULE OVER YOU...God cursed people for the sin in the garden. Even if a wife gets her husband to let her lead, she will not win in the end.

Well, that is just a smidge of what stood out to me recently in a fresh light. We will not outreason or outsmart God's word or His truth. I find it comforting. Parameters are easier to function within than a wide open space.

Nov. 12, 2009 - Holding Back Tears of Joy

Holding Back Tears of Joy!!!!!!!!!!!
God Just Parted the Red Sea!!! No joke. I mean, seriously just parted the Red Sea. We had all been praying that God would do the impossible. He is in the process of doing just that right now!!! I just got this email from NH.

"They are still waiting on approval from her local orphan court that would allow her to stay here after the program on a longer visit until the adoption goes through :>"

I asked what this meant. Does it mean she will stay with us permanently instead of returning back to Latvia after Christmas? The answer was:

"YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But no final answer yet :>"

I asked isn't this unusual. This seems like God. I have never heard of them doing this before. The answer was:

"It won’t affect the trips to Latvia , just allow her to remain with you under custody agreement until you take first trip to Latvia . She won’t go 2nd trip as she is under 12. And 3rd trip she and one parent have to go for visa interview and embassy stuff.
HIGHLY unusual!"

WOW!!! I am stunned. I am shocked. Have you ever prayed and seen the impossible before. I am stunned and shocked. We are getting our prayers answers. Please don't stop giving, though. You, facebook friends, is who God is using to do this. Our pastor said it wasn't in their "budget" to help this orphan.  If your heart is moved, please do help with the finances. Also, please continue to pray. I was told the trip is very hard on her. Remember she can't unfold her legs. They must be hurting pretty bad. Her feet and hands grow curled. My husband has excellent insurance so she will be well taken care of by my husband's insurance. We will love on her and teach her who Jesus Christ is...God bless all of you for having a heart to care!!!

Today the children are coloring some Greek Architecture and creating their own newspaper about the first Olympics.
We have done our vocabulary words for the day, math, bible, etc..

Next week we are going to add some Thanksgiving lessons to our school plans. And of course some decorating.. :)
