• May. 14, 2007 - Yellow Rumped Warbler

I was Hiking through the woods near my house and I wanted to bring a camera with me. So i eventually met up with a couple yellow rumped warblers, unfortunatly i didn't get very many close up shots of them. I think this is the best photo I have.

• May. 2, 2007 - Moose On The Loose!

April 30, 2007, a day to remember. It was around 5:30 P.M. And I was busy watching television. I saw something walking down our street that looked very odd, so I opened up the blinds and saw that there were 3 big moose walking down our lane! I screamed to everybody in the house to look outside and see them. Unforntunatly I wasn't able to get a photo of them walking down our lane, but we did chase ater them and get a few pics of them roaming through the town. enjoy! >.<

• Mar. 13, 2007 - We saw it again!

The Willow Ptarmigan was in our backyard by our neighbor's house. I was able to get pretty close to it this time -- actually was about 3 ft away from it! It wandered around for a bit and finally walked behind an old shed in someone's backyard.

• Feb. 22, 2007 - Willow Ptarmigan

Well, what a surprise we had this morning! I was sitting in the living room, looking out the window and waiting for the kids to come start their history reading. Something moving outside the window caught my eye. I got up to take a closer look and saw 2 ptarmigan walking by on the side of the road outside our home. Of course, I called for the kids to come see. We had never seen a live one before :-) I slowly opened the front door to try and get a picture of them. They were moving pretty quickly and I didn't want them flying off before I could get a picture. They were making low gobbling noises, kindof like turkeys and chickens would make. I managed to get one fairly good shot -- not real closeup, but it will do. This is the time you need a nice zoom lens!

• May. 31, 2006 - tree swallow

May 31 we saw four three swallows. They were looking in our bird house. We were hoping the birds would nest. Then a starling came and scared the tree swallows away. Now were hoping they will at least come back.

I have been seeing a lot of house sparrow nests around my town and almost all of them are in, or on a building of some sort. They must like buildings!

• May. 24, 2006 - a fish hawk and a eagle

We read a story about a fish hawk. The hawk was diving down to get a fish. He came up with a fish in his mouth. The eagle came and tried to get the fish. The hawk just let go. He went to get a different fish. I think the eagle should have gone and got his own fish and not be a robber!

• May. 4, 2006 - more about bats

Last summer we found a bat next door. It was a little brown bat. It was cute! Our mom took some photos of it. Its wing was ripped and it had a cut on its belly. After a while it died. We drew pictures of it for our nature book.

See the ripped wing down by its tail??

I like this picture of it hanging in a tree.

We recently had a lot of ice come into our bay, and in the bays in our area.

Here are a couple of pictures take in Beachside. This is normal for Beachside. In June, I'll try to get some pictures of icebergs that often come in to this bay.
