About Me and Teaching

I am a homeschooling mom to two dd's.  We live out in the country in the NW.  I guess my biggest goal in homeschooling is to help my children in their relationship with Christ.  Sometimes I feel that public school regime creeping up.  I feel like if we are not learning in textbooks and drilling all the time we are not accomplishing what we need to do.

Yesterday we took a break from the norm and my 11year old dd learned how to make bread.  It was sooo beautiful, and she had a great time.  My 9 year old dd made stew for dinner.  I was so proud of them.  It takes me a lot not to just jump in and take over when things don't progress as fast as I think they should.

I pray that God would show me the important things that we need to learn, and that I would learn to let go of the things that are just things.

It sounds like your first post? I just wanted to say "hi" and welcome. It is so hard to relax isn't it? Baking is so much fun & a great way for the kids to learn. Have a blessed day, Tammy

Nov. 10, 2007 - Welcome, my dear friend/sister in Christ!

I'm so excited and glad to see your first post!!! Yippee! I'm proud of your girls and you, too. I totally understand that once you're in the textbook groove, it's hard to step out :). However, learning life skills such as cooking/baking is important and quite rewarding. Besides, it's more fun :).

Welcome to HSB! So glad you're here :). Thank you for signing my guestbook! Have a blessed weekend!
