Since we are coming up to a close in the traditional school year, and many of us are thinking about what to do next year, I thought I'd take a few posts to cover some information that might be helpful in such decisions.
First is a book recommendation. Homeschooling Methods, edited by Paul and Gena Suarez, is an excellent resource for anyone who is overwhelmed by all the different methodologies and curriculum choices out there. What I really like about this book is that experts in each field have written the relevant chapters
If you are curious, I personally use the Principle Approach. Two of my favorite authors, Jim Rose and Katherine Dang, have tackled that section of the book. If you would like to know more about developing a biblical worldview in your children, you may download Katherine Dang's seminar she did in Kansas City for free. Click here for more information. It is relevant, even if you do not use or plan to use the Principle Approach.
Another good resource for beginners is Secrets to Successful Homeschooling, an ebook about getting started in homeschooling. I have one copy to give away. Just leave me a comment and tell me a little about yourself to enter. Oh, and your email address. I need some way of contacting you!
