A new day
|
A
new day and good stuff happening. I had a monster headache
yesterday afternoon and evening, due to the lack of caffeine, but
today, I seem to be doing lots better. I am just now feeling the
beginnings of a little headache and I think I can live with
that. If I can be done w/this, it will be great for so many
reasons!
Tuesday afternoon, dh started having a problem w/his eye and Wed. morning, the kids and I brought him to the optometry clinic on base. Turned out he has an ocular herpes lesion in his eye! It's the same herpes virus (herpes simplex) that causes cold sores, so it's not an STD or anything ;-). He has gone to optometry every morning and almost every afternoon for continued checkups. I even brought him in this morning when they're officially closed, because they want to keep tabs on this. Today, he is feeling so much better and he's very happy about that. Neither of us had ever heard of this, but after looking online at a lot of info, it turns out it's actually pretty common. Who knew? Plus, now MIL and I both studied some things about natural ways to treat and prevent and that was pretty cool. I love learning new things. I've been feeling lazy today about my house and rather tired. I think it's because of the caffeine thing, but I really believe I should do something after I'm done here. At the very least, I have to wash some of the boys' clothes, because they're both out of things they could wear to church. ![]() I haven't shared this blog w/anybody at all yet and I don't know if I want to. I realize that there are a couple of blogs that I read, but maybe I have friends who are braver than I am. I think I'll keep this to myself for the time being. If somebody stumbles across it by chance, that's ok, but I'm not sending out e-mails w/links to my site . |

My first entry - yikes!
|
Well,
here we go. A blog. I can't believe I'm really writing in
one. Sort of scary to think of sharing my thoughts w/the rather
random world-wide-web. Right now, ds1 is "catching" ds2 as he (ds2) jumps off the desk I told him to stop jumping off of. Excuse me while I put an end to this eyebrow-raising activity ;-). Disaster and injury successfully averted for the time being. Ds2 is now occupied with his electronic Superman cape, while ds1 is staring at his handwriting notebook - whether he's hoping it spontaneously generates the required writing for him, I'm not sure, but at least nobody's getting hurt. Today is also the first day I'm kicking the caffeine habit (again). This should be fun - not. LOL. As I stare mournfully at my caffeine-free Diet Pepsi (didn't say I was kicking the pop habit yet - that will have to be next), I am bracing myself for the pounding headache to come. I decide these things rather randomly. I thought I was going to wait until the week after next, since we won't have school, but then when I was about to get my next 12-pack of caffeine-loaded beverage of choice, I thought to myself "Why not start tomorrow instead?" HA. So here I am.
Our Star Wars birthday party was yesterday, but the SW saga still lives
on in our house. Ds2 not only has his Superman cape on (received
for his b-day y'day from G'ma aka MIL), he's got a fierce look on his
face as he races around w/his blue light saber. My kids are
obsessed w/Star Wars. I can see some of this has character
building value, but not much of it .
How many times can I hear the SW theme "sung" by a 4yo or an 8yo?
Thankfully, though dd loves SW, too, she refrains from the theme song
;-). You know this is getting old because the SW track is, IMO, a
fabulous piece of music. Now I am rambling, but I guess that is the point of this, right? Off to make lunch and make sure the kids are finishing their school work. Last week and this week are "school lite" for us. Next week, a bit more work involved, but that's ok. After next week, we have 2 weeks off! Whee! |
