Jun. 10, 2008 - Still thinking about the school thing

Well, I know it's summer, but I still find myself thinking about the school thing.  Did I choose the right curriculum?  Will I be more consistent this year?  Will the new, more structured schedule I've planned free me or stifle me?  What about the kids... will they enjoy it or fight it?  You know how it goes.  I find myself wanting to go ahead and dig in again, just to see if it's going to work or not.  But we really need to take time off, but  I have a concern that the longer we take a break, the harder it will be to start over again.  My son is already missing Friday classes; that's when the kids go to our cover group for a day of enrichment classes.  I miss it too, because that's the day I have to myself, but that's another blog.

Today after VBS the kids and I met some friends at our local botanical gardens for the community free day.  The thought crossed my mind, "I can count this as a field trip!" But then I thought, "Why can't I just have a day of fun and not worry about school?".   *sigh*

Jun. 10, 2008 - Break...

Posted by abundantblessings

We are trying to get our school year finished up for break as well. Looks like we'll be done enough to take a break next Friday....but we plan to begin again the first Monday in August. Once spring hits, no one wants to be inside, which makes doing school a drag.
Take that break...you'll all get back to school refreshed and renewed. Do a few fun things...have a few late nights...do something special.
Then, hit the books again. Life is more than doing sit down school work...and so is learning. Take those opportunities to have fun days...and just enjoy them. They are far too fleeting!!! My oldest will be in 10th grade next year...I have no idea how that happened!!!

Blessings,
Laurie

I just read your comment on my blog post...
We'd never do that switch thing either...my Honey would never let someone else be his "wife"....and I can't imagine someone else taking care of my babes!
I agree, the editing is not done to make folks look good...but to show them in their worst light.

Have a wonderful evening!

Blessings,
Laurie

I think that about events we attend all the time. It is difficult to know what to do curriculum wise--I am thinking about adapting this fall too.

LOL...you sound just like me. I gave the kids a summer break this year for the first time EVER. While they're enjoying it, *I* can't get my mind off NEXT school year. Oh dear.

I loved the post about your husband; what a loving tribute.
