Got horses?

Oh, man.  Have we got 'em.  We picked up the horses on October 8, and as you can tell, I haven't been back to blogging since.  Work on the barn has been intermittent with the deluge that seems to occur weekly here in Indiana.  Seriously, our paddock got sodden within a week of their arrival and hasn't dried out even half-way since then.  It's a mucky mess.  We got two loads of sand put in, the truck and dump trailer got stuck both times and we've abandoned the idea until a freeze.

Anyway, we pick up a LOT of poop.  Our pasture is small and in order to maintain it, we're shoveling every pile we can find.  I'm hoping to get it composting and at least unload it for free to a greenhouse nearby, if not sell it.

My horse training is at a crawl with no good footing and no ring to do it in.  I could do some in the paddock if it weren't 6 inches deep in water.  My boot almost got sucked off my foot today.

It is really pleasant to see them out there each day.  My DH, what a guy.  He's building a terrific barn, slowly but amazingly.  We put on the beautiful red steel roof last week--okay, he did not we.
