Counting Down the days till School

The living room is taking longer than I thought.  However, I do have the folding table cleared and put away.  There are now three small piles to be delivered to other parts of the house and then its normal cleaning to get my living room back!  So I thought I could come and post again.

The public schools in our county started today.  Most of the private schools in the area start next week.  I’ve revised our start date from August 30th to September 1st.  September 1st is the first day of our co-op, so that will be our first day of school.   It will be a fun day and a day with friends.  My oldest daughter begins her first day of college on the 28th and my husband goes back to school beginning the evening of September 6th.  Its going to be quite a busy school year for this family!

This coming Sunday we’ve invited our Junior High Sunday School class to come to our house for an end of the year picnic. So this week is dedicated to cleaning house for company, but that will also put us in a good place for school.  Not only will the living room and dining room get a good once over but the laundry and family room will too.

Next week I will dedicate myself to the task of inputting lesson plans (at least the first 9 weeks) into Home School Tracker, my home school lesson plan software.  I also need to prepare my first art lesson for our co-op.  I’ll be teaching art using Mona Brooks’ Drawing with Children  mixed with some art history. I’m really looking forward to that.  I love teaching the elementary art class!

If I can keep on task this week and next, we’ll be in a good place to begin our studies on September 5th!

A Fresh New Year
It's August. For me that means clearing out the old and bringing in the new.  The shelves are stocked with new books and supplies and last year's books are waiting to be put away.  I'm a Queen procrastinator, so what should have taken a few days has taken over a week!  I'll get it done tomorrow! ... or maybe Thursday.

After I clear out the old stuff and have a nice tidy living room again I'll be ready to start making my lesson plans in Home School Tracker.  (I LOVE that program!)  I always look forward to a fresh year with new materials and a new chance to show myself and my family that we can keep a schedule.

Wow!  When I write it all out it looks intimidating.  But I think I can do it.  I've got a tentative schedule worked out that includes driving my oldest daughter to Community College a few days a week.  Fortunately we have a friend who is also going to CC this fall and we'll be carpooling some.

I think in order to motivate me to finish clearing out the living room of old books and other school related stuff, I will refrain from posting more here until I am done!  My reward for finishing that task will to be come back and blog some more.  Yes, I like that idea.

Okay... I'm off....
