A note from Johanna about Rainbow’s End: Monday, 23 November
Hi Everyone,
About 333 homeschoolers are booked in for Rainbow’s End, Manukau City, on Monday 23 Nov. They’ve had a personal email about this.
As I don’t know how far and wide the initial invitations to book have gone, I write to the yahoogroups.
If you haven’t received an email (with 2 exceptions), then you’re probably not booked.
Please DO NOT turn up unbooked at Rainbow’s End. The special price is because it’s part of Rainbow’s End CARE Days that they run for schools at the end of each year in November.
It’s been an amazing response – now I hope and pray that the weather is reasonable and that the gate-money-banding process goes well!!
Looking forward to a great day out and meeting some new fellow home educators too,
2. If you do, would you please reply asap/by return mail jmcwnz@gmail.com with numbers children – adults – spectators “non-riding supervisors” - which day pref – your phone number + email -
* would you prefer Fri 20 Nov or Mon 23 Nov?
Details known so far:
$15 each for 2yo+ riders – children and adults
under 2 years old – free
spectators – free
Be ready to go in at 10.30 am – if you’re late, you miss out. If you tend to be late to events, then aim to be there at 10.10 am – with correct cash in hand. (Keep me sane !!) Then the riders will get banded.
I will need to know numbers – the sooner the better so I can book in (like in the next 1-2 days). We’re competing with Auckland schools.
You may not like the crowds, but they go at 2.30pm and we pretty much have the place to ourselves after that.
You may want to pack your lunch, sun protection, water bottles, etc.

Andy Moore is a 22yr old Christian, currently studying towards a Political Science Degree at Canterbury University. He believes that abortion is the worst social injustice all times, a silent holocaust taking place; just down the road from you. He has been involved in starting up Prolife NZ and working to build the pro-life movement throughout New Zealand. His desire is to encourage others to speak up for unborn and to empower them to be able to effectively impact their culture. Andy can be found blogging at…
It’s time to SPEAK UP for what is best for families! New Zealanders need a voice that can lobby for strong families and safe communities, which is why Bob started his organisation “Family First”. Are you concerned about rising family break downs and the decline in standards and responsibility? Come and listen to Bob McCroskrie and be inspired for change!

“Back in September 2008, a group of interested young people (mainly home educators) had a meeting about the possibility of setting up a pro-life group in the University of Canterbury. We decided at that meeting that this was definitely something we wanted to pursue. University campuses are one of the best places to spread the pro-life message as there are thousands of young people at each campus, and the majority of women who have abortions are at campuses. Unfortunately, this is an opportunity that is not being used: there are no known pro-life groups in any campus in New Zealand at the moment, however we are hoping that our new group will be the first in a network of campus groups all over New Zealand.
Here’s a description of our new group: We want to be a hub at the University of Canterbury for students who are pro-life, that is, valuing the preciousness of a baby’s life before birth. Also, we wish to help pregnant mothers by pointing them towards useful, caring counseling services. As well as having regular club meetings during term-time, we plan to run public forums and seminars at which we would present our views and welcome input. We believe this is a very relevant issue in today’s society and would like to help co-students understand better what abortion is.

We have a site booked for each of the clubs days, running from the 23-25th February, where we will (Lord willing) have a stall, hand out brochures, talk with people about pro-life issues, and give away little hands gingerbread biscuits. If you’d like to get involved with our group or become a member, we’d love to hear from you - contact us at: prolifenz@gmail.com , or come along to the clubs days and have a chat to us there. If you’d like more information with what’s happening in New Zealand in regard to abortion, or you'd like to donate to the cause, look us up on http://www.prolife.org.nz where we have news updates, videos and links to other pro-life groups. Please pray that there will be a lot of support for this group and its activities
Recently I have met several home educating parents as they came through MOTAT with their children. So went to your website to see if what we have and do in the library might be of use to your home educators.
We have a MOTAT annual passholder homework club (for young onsite visitors) but are availabe via our website and the general Library email (library at motat.org.nz) to assist anyone with research and information needs with a transport and technology theme. We have a member of staff specifically employed to assist in making our archival, photographic, magazine and book collections accessible to all. We have a book collection specifically for school age children as well which can be used for reference.
I hope you will pass on this information to your members or use it on your website.
Thank you, kind regards
Megan Wishart and the rest of the library team.
