Just thought I'd take a moment to tell you all about the latest masterpiece I will be performing in. Hahahaha! Well, it is an amazing show, but I'm only an extra...... '3 Days' is performed by a proffesional dance company, MAXXAS, and is one of the most powerful productions I have ever experienced. The last time they did it, there was not a dry eye in the audience and when the curtain closed no one made a noise for nearly ten seconds. I'm so blessed and extatic to be a part of it! The storyline is far too complex to explain in a resonable ammount of space but on the general, theoretical level, it's about a woman faced with the choice between God and Satan. For the first three quarters or more she chooses darkness and it's one of the most frightning things I've ever witnessed. The consequences of our choices are so clearly laid before us. Here's the trailer: 3 Days Trailer it doesn't really do it justice but you can get an idea of what I've been involved in. Also, if you read this before Saturday, please pray for this performance. Last time they did it people kept getting weird sicknesses and injuries. There was a lot of attack in the emotions as well and it was a hard show for everyone. This time, one of my very good friends, who is playing the evil role, was involved in an awful car accident. Four cars and a semi were all smashed up in a circle around his car but they weren't touched at all. Not a scratch on his car. We all believe that someone down below does not want this show to happen and that we're fighting against things we can't see. Please pray for protection and that God would touch lives through this performance. That's about all for now.......Disneyland in 6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While attempting to write a paper for my shakespeare class, I've found that my brain can only take so much deliberation before it begins to malfunction. Examples would be: writing the same word repetatively, creating unintelligible sentences or simply staring at the blank screen for two minutes before realizing I've stopped writing. These are just a few of the many side-effects of lack of sleep coupled with mind-intensive schoolwork. Therefore, to counteract the consequences of my choices, I take a break in the tedious work assigned me and occupy my mind with something a bit less grueling. Of course, discontinuing the writing of an important paper, especially the day before it's due, to distract my brain may not be viewed as a good choice either. However, as my father likes to say, "'f you're going to cut down a tree, you have to sharpen the saw periodically'. Or at least that's the gist......... So I thought I'd tell anyone listening about my interesting trip to the airport Sunday. 'How interesting can a trip to the airport be?' you might ask. Well, really, not that interesting but this is a break in writing a play review so I find it fascinating by comparison!! I left my house 1600 hours (that's 4:00 pm in case you were wondering) to pick up my brother and his family. Little did I know what lay in store for me. As I began to pick up speed on the 435 loop I found myself fighting a strong cross breeze but thought nothing of it and cranked up my music (Thoroughly Modern Millie Soundtrack). Ahead, I could see a dark blot growing swifly larger. It was about this time that the rain began. You know how sometimes rain enters with little droplets, slowly and unobtrusively, and you find after a bit that you can't really see out your windsheild so maybe you need your wipers turned on low........not this rain. It was saying to itself, 'I know I only have a little while so I'm not wasting any time'. In the space of ten seconds I had zero visibility. Add to that the wind is picking up more and more and the dark blot has become my biosphere three and Nicky is beginning to be a little frightened. As 'Everything Today is Thoroughly Modern' blasts through my speakers, a similarly jolting thought bursts through my mind: 'Isn't this tornado country?! COULD I BE DRIVING TOWARDS A TORNADO!!!!!'. I've slowed down to 45 or 50 by this point after being blown partway into the next lane by the wind (that was one of the scariest moments of the trip) and visibility is still nil. The clock now reads 4:15. 'Ok,' I say to myself, 'Chris is just going to have to deal with me being late because I'm not going any faster.' Here I'll skip forward to my arrival at the airport because no one wants to hear the monotony of continual fear, inability to see, stupid drivers around me, or musical theater soundtracks. So, as I was saying, my arrival at the airport: the clock now reads 4:42 and I am only 7 minutes late, not bad considering the circumstances. I get the call I've been expecting since 4:35 and before my brother can ask where I am I've already told him my whole sob story and concluded by informing him that I'm about to pull up to the terminal. Here comes the twist. Short pause on the other line and then, 'Actually, we're in Des Moines. The weather was so bad we were re-routed and I don't know when we'll be there.' Long story short, Nicky sat in a gas station parking lot for 3 and 1/2 hours waiting (and fell asleep which was very bad and dangerous) but we all made it home safe and sound and live today to tell of it. Now that I've written a long and pointless story, I think my saw is sharp enough to chop down my tree. If not, I've got to at least bang on it with a dull blade so I can say I tried................. |

I think I'm going to attempt a more frequent blogging experience, though I really don't know what I'm going to fill all the blank space with........ WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!!!!! It is now official that my sister and I are going with the Keith family of Arizona to Disneyland for 4 days and I am SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!! So that's really whats on my mind right now hehe!! Along with the anticipation of our upcoming trip, yours truly is keeping herself quite busy with dance classes/ Jazz company, Romeo and Juliet, acting class, Two Gentlemen of Verona, teaching math and science, voice lessons, and my inevitable social circle that seems to be always growing and never shrinking. Add to that, the fact that my parents are out of town and I'm doing their jobs at home (cooking, chores, etc.) making sure Andrea gets to her classes (and gets her school done hahaha) and generally managing life in the Fay household, and you're either looking at a highly productive, or nearly unhinged human being, not sure which at this time. Considering that my main character problem growing up was laziness, I'm guessing times like this are my punishment for wasting so much of my childhood avoiding work, haha. Or perhaps it's just God teaching me that I can work hard and accomplish things if I'm willing to prioritize.........time will tell!!! But for now, I work hard, spend time with my family, and look forward to again finding myself packed in a car, listening to 4 year olds sing Bob the Builder over and over again, racing away towards good old Cali Forni. DISNEYLAND HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I'm 20!! Can you believe it?!?! I sure can't.............and I still love Disneyland hahaha!!!! I'm like one of the lost boys, *singing* "I never ever wanna grow up, YUCK!!!" Hehehe! I'll always stay a kid at heart!!! |

My brother has his own website and one of the things that has been a real success is his forum. Anyone can post a topic and then everyone can discuss it as much as they'd like. The idea struck me that if I just had people message discussion topics to me, I could post them as blogs and then all the comments afterward could be the forum. So instead of one person writing a blog and people making comments, there would be a question or thought and then we all talk about it. And we would have the added benefit that I would be able to monitor the discussion and topics (in case anything inappropriate came up, which is my first concern in an open forum). I opened a new blog, nickysforum, to use as the forum. If you're interested, let me know and we'll give it a try!! -Nicky |

Ok, since I haven't been writing much lately, and a picture's worth a thousand words, I thought I'd send you a few snapshots of our life here in KC.
So out on the Plaza is this old diner called Winsteads and my dad used to go there when he was a kid. It's a little like 5 n' Diner if you've ever been there......anyway, nearly every time we go, we end up with a skyscraper; a milkshake or malt served in a vase and enough to feed 3-5 people. That's excluding teenage boys: they usually drink their own. One guy drank an entire skyscraper in 7 minutes and then......well, you probably don't want to hear that story ; )
Ummmm, this was after a very intense Good Friday show that some of my friends were in........I think the tension must have been too much for us : ) That's Jordan and Anna is about to kill him with that really cool knife. I wish I had a picture of the hilt cuz it's pretty amazing.
Snow, snow, glorious snow!!!! My front yard after a light snow last winter. Probably January....... I think that was the day I hit a light pole twice sledding on the road behind my house. Good times........
I just put this in because the grass looked so green and beautiful.......As you can obviously tell, it had been raining pretty hard that day. You know, that wet stuff that falls from the sky? No? Oh well...... Anyway, we all went out behind our theater school and played in the puddles!! That piece of wood was our attempt at a bridge. Didn't work out so well.......
Um, this is me dying. A few of my friends are in theater for the stunts stuff, so in their free time they're usually practicing falling, hitting, fighting, pretending to shoot stuff- stuff like that. As you can tell by my defeat, here depicted as I laugh my way to the grave, I'm not really very good at sword figting. But how often do you get to hit your friends with big padded swords and practice dying repeatedly?!?
Nerd day, one of the brilliant inventions of Andrea and Melissa (the girl on the far right). It was all fun and games until the bullies came along.....
and James mugged her.
Unfortunately, for about half the year, there are no leaves on the trees! Weird I know. I have a similar picture from summer when the trees are green, and I would put it up but my computer is not in a gratifying mood........ These are some of my crazy dance friends (excluding James, far right, who is merely our techy guy) playing our favorite game. Oh good memories in that park across the street from my house in AZ!! Only it was about 75 degrees when this picture was taken, slight difference from the molten heat of Phoenix.......
Ahaha! Cinderella...... I had two costumes in this show and I purposefully chose not to include a picture of me as a cat. Amy Z. here was a rat that I had to chase out of the house. Not much to say about dance recital, both Andrea and I prefer theater, as all good people do....... ; )
Shawnee Mission Park, two miles from my house has a lake with a beach, sailboats to rent, mountain bike trails, frisbee golf, rc plane flying field, dog park, horses, every kind of sport and a thousand other things. Trails lead off the park all around my house and criss cross streams and forests (and again this is another tag for KC and the fact that you all need to visit). This is of course me playing soccer with the guys, my Nick side coming out.......that was for you Nate Schmidt. Ha! I found a picture of the lake!! It's not a very good one, and me and Coleman are making funny faces, but you can see how beautiful it is.......
Andrea and Aaron climbed the roof of one of the gazebo's to show off thier spider man powers........ really, they called it spider man powers. I was up on the hill playing soccer so I missed all the super hero action........ I actually put this picture in because the trees were so pretty.
There are tons of ducks and geese (as well as deer, rabbits, possums, raccoons and lots of other animals) at the park so we collected feathers and decided to be indians. Coleman was the chief and I was a skwa.....I don't really have very many pictures of the gorgeous foliage around here, (my computer deleted it all, frustratingly) but I like the fact that the natural landscape is not scruffy......
And last, but far from least, a dress rehearsal shot from Sleeping Beauty. Being my first, I believe this show will always be my favorite, as well as for the fact that we had an absolutely wonderful cast. The Jester right there is Aaron ( a.k.a. spider man from the picture above) and every show I had to slap him in the opening scene. Of course it was a stage slap so I never hit him very hard, but for the last show he told me to go ahead and hit him. Unfortunately, I misjudged my spacing........ he was later complimented on how realistic his crazy drunken behavior was in the remainder of the scene....... ; )
Well, that was a bunch of random information and pictures and I'll be surprised to find out that anyone actually read the whole thing. But that's a small slice of Nicky's life here in the middle of the country. -Nicky |

Ok, I'm still alive but only barely. This summer has become much more than it's original plan and I've been literally drowning in summer camps!! That is, I've been councelling for them, not participating. My weekends are spent catching up on what is absolutely most important to keep life going and unfortunately the computer didn't measure up....... however, I found myself with a little down time this afternoon and thought I would write a bit. Lets see...... since I last wrote (a million years ago) I participated in a huge dance recital, I have been councelling at theater day camps and rehearsing for a musical in the evenings, and my brother Mike appeared out of nowhere on a surprise visit from Tucson. Amazing that so little on text can fill up so much time so completely.......Anyway, we're all looking forward to life slowing down again soon and possibly a visit back there. As far as next year, I'm seriously considering going to school full time as a theater major at a christian college nearby. Ok, I think thats about all. I'm going to try really hard to keep up with my blog better, I promise!!!! I miss you all tons!!! Nick ;)

Thank you all for joining me on this auspicious occasion. I dedicate this blog to my Phoenix friends so they can keep abreast of all my comings and goings and the general insanity that rules my life......... Hahahaha!!! Anyways, howdy do and hello! I'm sitting in the sunroom off the back yard and it's a beautiful spring day, about 70 degrees out and yes I'm saying this to make you want to come visit. All I can see is green out of all the windows and it's slightly cloudy and absolutely perfect. As soon as I'm done typing I'm going out to enjoy it, so I'll keep bloggero uno short. This last year since we moved has gone by in such a blur I have to pinch myself to believe it's been that long. Then again, so much has happened that I can't quite believe it all fit into one year! There were the two months we lived with my grandparents, two months in AZ (that included our amazing CA trip of course ;) then back to KC and Christmas. In January we joined our performing arts school and we're about to perform our third show with them. Looking forward, more dance and theater, private voice lessons, math tutoring for some of my highschool friends, some community college classes, and very hopefully a couple weeks with my friends in Arizona!!! Now that you're caught up, I'm going out to enjoy the weather and the mere act of doing nothing! I love Sundays....... |
