On either side the river lie Long fields of barley and of rye, That clothe the world and meet the sky; And thro' the field the road runs by To many-tower'd Camelot; And up and down the people go, Gazing where the lilies blow Round an island there below, The island of Shalott.
Willows whiten, aspens quiver, Little breezes dusk and shiver Through the wave that runs for ever By the island in the river Flowing down to Camelot. Four grey walls, and four grey towers, Overlook a space of flowers, And the silent isle imbowers The Lady of Shalott.
By the margin, willow veil'd, Slide the heavy barges trail'd By slow horses; and unhail'd The shallop flitteth silken-sail'd Skimming down to Camelot: But who hath seen her wave her hand? Or at the casement seen her stand? Or is she known in all the land, The Lady of Shalott?
Only reapers, reaping early, In among the bearded barley Hear a song that echoes cheerly From the river winding clearly; Down to tower'd Camelot; And by the moon the reaper weary, Piling sheaves in uplands airy, Listening, whispers, " 'Tis the fairy Lady of Shalott."
There she weaves by night and day A magic web with colours gay. She has heard a whisper say, A curse is on her if she stay To look down to Camelot. She knows not what the curse may be, And so she weaveth steadily, And little other care hath she, The Lady of Shalott.
And moving through a mirror clear That hangs before her all the year, Shadows of the world appear. There she sees the highway near Winding down to Camelot; There the river eddy whirls, And there the surly village churls, And the red cloaks of market girls Pass onward from Shalott.
Sometimes a troop of damsels glad, An abbot on an ambling pad, Sometimes a curly shepherd lad, Or long-hair'd page in crimson clad Goes by to tower'd Camelot; And sometimes through the mirror blue The knights come riding two and two. She hath no loyal Knight and true, The Lady of Shalott.
But in her web she still delights To weave the mirror's magic sights, For often through the silent nights A funeral, with plumes and lights And music, went to Camelot; Or when the Moon was overhead, Came two young lovers lately wed. "I am half sick of shadows," said The Lady of Shalott.
A bow-shot from her bower-eaves, He rode between the barley sheaves, The sun came dazzling thro' the leaves, And flamed upon the brazen greaves Of bold Sir Lancelot. A red-cross knight for ever kneel'd To a lady in his shield, That sparkled on the yellow field, Beside remote Shalott.
The gemmy bridle glitter'd free, Like to some branch of stars we see Hung in the golden Galaxy. The bridle bells rang merrily As he rode down to Camelot: And from his blazon'd baldric slung A mighty silver bugle hung, And as he rode his armor rung Beside remote Shalott.
All in the blue unclouded weather Thick-jewell'd shone the saddle-leather, The helmet and the helmet-feather Burn'd like one burning flame together, As he rode down to Camelot. As often thro' the purple night, Below the starry clusters bright, Some bearded meteor, burning bright, Moves over still Shalott.
His broad clear brow in sunlight glow'd; On burnish'd hooves his war-horse trode; From underneath his helmet flow'd His coal-black curls as on he rode, As he rode down to Camelot. From the bank and from the river He flashed into the crystal mirror, "Tirra lirra," by the river Sang Sir Lancelot.
She left the web, she left the loom, She made three paces through the room, She saw the water-lily bloom, She saw the helmet and the plume, She look'd down to Camelot. Out flew the web and floated wide; The mirror crack'd from side to side; "The curse is come upon me," cried The Lady of Shalott.
In the stormy east-wind straining, The pale yellow woods were waning, The broad stream in his banks complaining. Heavily the low sky raining Over tower'd Camelot; Down she came and found a boat Beneath a willow left afloat, And around about the prow she wrote The Lady of Shalott.
And down the river's dim expanse Like some bold seer in a trance, Seeing all his own mischance -- With a glassy countenance Did she look to Camelot. And at the closing of the day She loosed the chain, and down she lay; The broad stream bore her far away, The Lady of Shalott.
Lying, robed in snowy white That loosely flew to left and right -- The leaves upon her falling light -- Thro' the noises of the night, She floated down to Camelot: And as the boat-head wound along The willowy hills and fields among, They heard her singing her last song, The Lady of Shalott.
Heard a carol, mournful, holy, Chanted loudly, chanted lowly, Till her blood was frozen slowly, And her eyes were darkened wholly, Turn'd to tower'd Camelot. For ere she reach'd upon the tide The first house by the water-side, Singing in her song she died, The Lady of Shalott.
Under tower and balcony, By garden-wall and gallery, A gleaming shape she floated by, Dead-pale between the houses high, Silent into Camelot. Out upon the wharfs they came, Knight and Burgher, Lord and Dame, And around the prow they read her name, The Lady of Shalott.
Who is this? And what is here? And in the lighted palace near Died the sound of royal cheer; And they crossed themselves for fear, All the Knights at Camelot; But Lancelot mused a little space He said, "She has a lovely face; God in his mercy lend her grace, The Lady of Shalott."
Here are some pictures I took with my new(!!!!!) camera. Funnily enough, I they are pictures I took of pictures I drew!!! Enjoy, and tell me what you think!
This past Friday,I(FINALLY) bought a digital camera!!!
My mom and I have been saving up for it together, because we both want one,and it won't take as long to get enough money if we are both saving.
So,I ordered it on line,so I don't actually have it yet,but I should have it by tomorrow!!!!! I am so excited,I'll probably post a bunch of pictures on here the day I get it!!!
~O.K. You can stop voting on the roses now!! Actually, the day I put up the roses,I got a call from the Christmas carol people, but I thought the roses were so cool that I decided to keep them up a little while longer!(LOL)
~Well,I got called back! I didn't get the part I wanted, which was either Belle, who is Scroodge's girlfriend that breaks up with him when he starts loving money more than her,or Martha Cratchet, the oldest of the Cratchet children. Actually, when you really think about it,I didn't get a part at all. I am just in the adult chorus, which,in theatre talk means I am an extra. Joy. Actually,I am pretty excited! I was so terrified that I wasn't even going to get in at all that just being in the thing has me flippin' out!!
~I thought I did really good on the singing part of the audition. I sang on key and everything!(Shocker) My acting was O.K. I thought I could have done better, but I hate(truely hate) speaking in front of people unless I have what I am going to say perfectly,word-for-word memorized. It's strange. I can be the main character in a play, and be great with it,saying my lines as if it were how I talked every day of my life, but make me read lines from a paper,or give a speech, and I draw a blank! I am just weird that way.
~Unfortunately,my dancing was atrocious!! I may be many things, but a dancer God did NOT make me!! I really love to dance, but I think Fred Astaire is cringing in his grave as I prance about the stage.
~So,why don't I give you a blow-by-blow account:
~The auditions were held at a local school for the arts. It was on the 4th floor, and there were a lot of people there, but not nearly as many as I thought there would be. I was in the second group to audition. Along with about 15 other people, including my best friends and fellow bloggers,wonderland21 and hannahB,and their mom,MichelleMyBell. I was number 29,Hannah was number 3,Allison was 32 and their mom was 33,or was it 34? I think it was 33. Anywho, that's not improtant. Back to my story.
~There were truely horrible singers and really great singers, and those in between there. What really got me was that every time someone didn't sing well,(because of the song they chose) the director would have them sing Jingly bells, and almost none of them knew the song! Some knew it SORT OF. I'm like,"HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW JUNGLE BELLS!?!?!?!?!?!?"
~O.K. I'm good. When it was my turn to sing,I wasn't afraid at all! I was pretty impressed with myself for that, actually. I was convinced I would be shaking in my character shoes as I walked up on stage, but I just walked up there like I was walking upstairs in my house! i think is was the director. She is so chipper, she just made me feel happy and totally comfortable with what I was about to do. So,I sang, they seemed to like it,and Hannah sang next. She did great,of course! Allison went next, and she did really good, too! I could tell that some of those higher notes were making her think about falling on her knees as the song suggested(she sang Oh,holy night) but She pulled it off very well, and really, the only way I noticed is because I have seen her sing about a million times. Their mom was the last singer, and she nailed it!!!!
~Then the director had everyone come up on stage to read some lines. As stated above,I did O.K. but not as great as Allison.
~And last,we danced. I won't go there. You'll thank me later.
~After that was over,we left, and my addrenaline just plummited! I was so hyper during the auditions, and then as soon as I got in the car to go home,I felt like I could fall asleep right there!!
~Well,Allison and I promise to document the rehearsals, and you can check them out! They should be pretty interesting!
Today,I auditioned for the Christmas carol! It was so much better than the last time I did it. Last time,I had no experience,I was younger, and the theatre was scary.
this time,it was in a different building.A building that had more windows,so it was lighter. And I have done this a couple of times,so I knew what to expect. Also, there is a new director this year, and she was just so chipper and perky, I couldn't help but have fun!
This Saturday,I am going to audition for "A Christmas Carol". I tried out a couple of years ago,but didn't get in,and then I couldn't try out last year, because that was the year I started high school, and my mom didn't want me to do many extra caricular activities while I was getting used to the new schedule. But,now that I am all settled in,I can do it!(YAY!)
The last time,I sang "God rest ye,merry gentlemen",which I can usually sing quite well, but I had never auditioned before, and the stage was HUGE! And this is not stage fright,it's a big stage. So,I went into Chipmunk mode, and, well, the rest is history. I am great at singing when I am not up there all by myself. Usually,I have fun! But not that time.
This time, however,I am better prepared. I have a few more auditions under my belt,so this will not be a new experience,I have an easier song to sing, and the stage is WAY smaller. Actually,I am really excited!! The play is so great and elaborate! If you go to Wonderland21's blog, you can see pictures. She has been in it for the past two years, and will be trying out with me on Saturday.(Good luck,Allison!!)
This year,I chose to sing "The holly and the ivy". It can be a hard song to sing, but I have it in a slightly lower note,so,it should be O.K. PLEASE let it be O.K!
Anywho, pray for me and wish me luck!!!
Here are the lyrics to the song I am only singing the first couple of verses:
The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood T
he holly bears the crown
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To be our sweet Saviour
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a berry
As red as any blood
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To do poor sinners good
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
On Christmas Day in the morn.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly bears a bark
As bitter as any gall;
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
For to redeem us all.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
The holly and the ivy
Now both are full well grown,
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown.
O the rising of the sun
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing of the choir
If you have ever listened to the Kit Kittredge soundtrack, you have already heard of the Puppini sisters. They are three sisters that live now,but sing all old songs, mostly 1940's songs. They have GREAT harmony!!!
I am posting one of their first music videos. This song is Boogie Woogie bugle boy, originally sung my the Andrews sisters.
O.K. I've done this before, but these are different questions, and I have different music on my mp3 player. Here are the rules: Put your ipod(mp3) in shuffle, and then read each question. Answer every question with the title of the song that is playing at the time you read the question. Use the answer to the very last question as the title of this entry. No cheating!!!!!

These are the lyrics to "Before the throne of God above". If you would like to hear the song,I have it on my blog pod, which is on my sidebar.
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands.
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can big me there depart.
No tongue can bid me there depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair and tells me of the guilt within.
Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
To look on Him and pardon me
Behold Him there the risen Lamb.
My perfect spotless righteousness.
The great unchangeable I AM.
The Kind of glory and of grace. One with Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!
Yesterday, my mom and I went on a girl's day out,and I bought a dress! It's really pretty! I got it a Dress Barn,my all-time favorite store!!! It looks like a 1950's dress. I couldn't find a picture of my exact dress, but I found a couple that a like it.
This is the first time I have ever bought anything from Dress Barn, apart from a necklace. This store has other clothes besides dresses, but I like the dresses best, because most of them look like something from the 1930's.40's,50's,or 60's!!! They are all pretty modest, too! It's a little expensive, but they have amazing sales!! For example,my dress was about $40,but I got it for $28!!!
This first picture is the general style and shape of my dress:
This picture shows the pattern of my dress!
AND,it's got pockets!!! Honestly,I think I just bought the perfect dress!!!!
If you put these pictures together, you should get a pretty good idea of my new dress! I am so excited! I am going to wear it to Church on Sunday!!!!!
Hopefully,I will be able to get a picture of my actual dress on here soon. I am saving up to buy a digital camera,so,I should have a lot of pictures on my blog pretty soon!!!

I bought a new skirt last week, and I am going to show a picture, but I am wearing it to an even that my friend,Allison is also going to,so I don't want her to see it until then. That is why I put the warning at the top of this post.
I got my skirt at a store called Charlotte Russe. That is a REALLY expensive store, and I would normally not even go in,but they were having a mega sale, and I was in luck!!! This skirt was originally $20,but I paid $5!!!! What a deal right??
The skirt goes all the way down to the ground, literally! It brushes my toes when I walk!
They had other colors, like black, and aqua, but only the white ones were on sale. This is a really nice skirt, because it's lined,so it's not see-through,the way most white things these days are.
Well,I reccomend shopping at Charlotte Russe when they have a sale, because they have REALLY great sales, and pretty nice clothes!!!
Hi!!! This is my first blog,so,it should be interesting! I will talk about myself, and just branch off from there!!! I will talk about my family, friends,my love for acting and the arts, and, well, everything!
You are definitely an urban person, but not any old city will do.
You want a city that matches you well. For you, big cities lack individuality.
You prefer a smaller city with lots of personality, local culture, and history.
