Okay I found another Contest to enter. It won't be so hard as loosing my Baby Fat. Haha. So here are my answers for the contest. We will be homschooling K4 and 1st (officially) this year. We Classically homeschool. I plan like crazy and then just as soon as my plan is complete and perfectly packaged (in my own homemade curriculum), I change it... Haha
The only true packaged curriculum I use are Singapore Math and Language 3 (only because someone gave me this book). However since Josiah has been finishing his schoolwork in less then two hours each day I have chosen to add Ambleside Online as a supplament to what we are already doing. I guess that is a curriculum of sorts. We won't be doing all of it or even every day. It goes along nicely with my "real" books approach to schooling, because they are all real books even though they are online books (they are not text books). Oh, we also use some of Donna Young's online stuff... mostly the penminship stuff.
We do our school work at a child sized table next to our sliding glass door which is the only place in our apartment with appropriate lighting.
We are most excited right now about doing art and piano with Josiah and learning to read with Micah. I also plan to add a few more activities with Zboy after our move. He is already wanting to do school like his big brothers... and I have to keep him off his big brother's papers.
I teach some subjects to grade level while I teach others together. Art, Bible, Music, History and Science are all taught together while everything else is taught individually. I'm beginning to wean Josiah a bit by giving him more independant work while I work with Micah. It can be frustrating for Josiah at times, but he is learning a valuable lesson in patience. And I remind myself (when I get nervious about him having to wait) how much he would have to wait if he were in a classroom of 20. |
