Graceful Courage

• Mar. 6, 2006 - A little about our homeschool...

I wanted to share a little bit about what our homeschool looks like.  We live in  beautiful PA Dutch Country and my dh and I have three wonderful children, C (9 yob this week!), J (7 yob), and Ca (5 yog) with one baby on the way.  I am due in June!

We started homeschooling because we felt the Lord's calling, and that it would fit our lifestyle!  It has now turned into our lifestyle!  We love to do hands on things, play games, go for walks and play outside, take field trips, and generally have a fun time together!  I never realized how much I would learn on this journey, especially about reptiles and spiders!

This is our 4th year homeschooling, and the first year we have to do any reporting and testing in PA.  So, a little more recordkeeping, but not too bad.  I am concerned a little how my oldest will do on his testing, and praying he will do okay and not have a breakdown!

We use this year for all FIAR,  Story of the World on CD in the car, Sonlight 1 & 2 combined for our "base" of world history, History Pockets Ancient Civilizations and mostly homemade unit studies for Science.  For devotions/Bible time we are reading through "You Can Change the World" from Sonlight and 101 Favorite Bible Stories.

My 9 yob and 3rd grader uses:  Saxon 3, Abeka Spelling 2, Hooked on Phonics for Review, Pentime for Writing, and Climbing to Good English 3,  and Pathway Readers for his reading.

My 7 yob and 1st/2nd grader uses:  Horizons 2, Abeka Spelling 2, Pentime for Writing, Pathway Readers, and a Phonics workbook.

My 5 yog and PreK/K uses:  Lots of crayons, lots of paper and lots of tape! Actually,  she is doing various K type workbooks this year.  I have not really done formal stuff yet, as she just turned 5 in December...

Thank you for visiting!

• Mar. 4, 2006 - Addicting

Ok, I can see how this gets so addicting!  With my little one's playing outside and my wonderful husband working in his woodshop, I am supposed to be paying bills online!!  AAHH. I can't stop jumping from people's blogs.  It is so inspiring.

I will be adding some structure to this blog, and would like to share some things on how we do our homeschool, as I love to read how everyone else does it!!

Blessings today.
