The Not So Perfect Homeschool Mom
Jul. 28, 2009

I'm sure you have never had a day like this.....

Yesterday was one of those days.

Not only did I not shower I never got out of my pajamas, never went to the mailbox, I didn’t make dinner and was asleep before 10:00 pm.

Yesterday was “getting ready for the next school year”…

  1. Woke up and went to the computer (hey some people drink coffee I “computer”)
  2. Checked facebook
  3. Ordered books at amazon.com
  4. Finally unpacked boxes with school books (we moved into this house in May)
  5. Checked facebook
  6. Realized I ordered a book I just unpacked
  7. Scrambled to cancel said book on amazon.com
  8. Checked facebook (hey I was already on the computer)
  9. Sent text my husband that I felt I was completely out of the running for wife or mother of the year so he could go ahead and take the kids out for dinner.
  10. Sent the hubby and children off to dinner while I was set to finish cleaning up the books and miscellaneous junk.
  11. Instead sat down and watched tv for an hour.
  12. Checked facebook
  13. Answered a couple of business e-mails.
  14. Ate the subway sandwich the family brought back for me.
  15. Then sent them off to the pool.
  16. Checked facebook (do we see a theme here????)
  17. Got most of the stuff cleaned up before posting a goodnight on facebook at going to bed.

Well I am happy to report that the house has been cleaned, the books are mainly put away now (need more bookshelves!).  I was also showered and dressed before 10:00 a.m. – I have to admit this is mainly due to the fact that I have a client coming at 11:00 for headshots and the insurance inspector coming to take new pictures for the homeowners insurance. :P

A little introduction...

I'm Tiffany, wife to Troy and mother to our 5 children (Alyssa, TJ, Caleb, Jorie & Tabitha).  I have been homeschooling for 12 years and recently graduated our oldest daughter from high school.

When I am not tripping over toys/books/spare computer parts, getting only 1/2 of my to-do list accomplished (on a good day) or trying to figure out what to make for dinner with a bag of pasta, a granola bar and some baby carrots, then I can usually be found with my camera.  I run a portrait photography business from my home.

Why "not so perfect" - because I see too many homeschooling moms that are giving up.  Not because they aren't competent, loving mothers and teachers but because they feel like EVERYONE is doing it better than them.  Because I have heard too many mothers worry about judgment from other moms for their homes, their schooling or even their walk with God.  Because I have had moms think I am doing it so much better (which is just nuts) AND felt the judgment (real or not).

Soooooo this blog is about getting real.  Real school, real mom, real wife, real life, REAL ME!  Hope you join the adventure!
