• Apr. 26, 2006 - Rabbit Update

The rabbit died Sunday morning. We're glad he died of natural causes and not in the mouth of the cat.

• Apr. 26, 2006 - My Life

I am From………………

I am from a house with three brothers, one sister, and one on the way. From catching lizards and insects in the woods behind our reformed church. From camping in the Okeefenokee Swamp with my Grandad.

I am from a little brother dumping cat food and water all over the floor. From dribbling the ball down the court and scoring two points, and from hitting the ball and running to first base.

I am from swimming at the beach and fishing at Fort Macon. From driving to New Jersey in a big, white van, and from eating spaghetti and meatballs in Pennsylvania. From climbing trees, riding fair rides, and playing Monopoly and legos.

I am from loving parents and grandparents. From little brothers who drive me crazy.

I am from drawing pictures of animals, doing flips on the trampoline, and reading Hardy Boy books until late at night. From playing with snakes at the Eno River, fishing, and swimming. From watching Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and playing Age of Empires on the computer.

I am from a life filled with adventure and excitement.

Today I found a rabbit in the woods at our church. His mom left him alone, so I took him to my house. I'm going to try to raise him.

Okeefenokee Swamp-Last Day

Today we ate granola for breakfast. We were only supposed to paddle for 6 miles, but it ended up being 12 miles. We ate what snack food was leftover for lunch. Today we saw 48 alligators. That means we saw a total of 62 alligators on this trip! This was a wonderful trip! I can't descibe how thankful I was to Grandad for taking me to the Okeefenokee Swamp!

Today we woke up bright and early. We ate eggs and bacon for breakfast. After breakfast we packed up and got into the canoes. We saw seven sandhill cranes, and who-knows-how-many egrets. We ate tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. Today we saw eight more alligators.

We paddled 7.2 miles. We saw 6 alligators. We arrived at our camp shelter at 3:00pm. Matt fell in the water. He didn't get hurt, but it scared him!  For dinner we had spaghetti and bread. I caught two anoles, and got jabbed by a couple of thorns during the process. Today was lots of fun. I hope tomorrow we see more alligators.

Grandad, Uncle Jeremiah, Matt, Josiah, and I will be leaving for the Okeefenokee Swamp April 4th on Tuesday. I can't wait! This will be my second time going to this swamp. I hope the canoe dosen't flip while we are in the water!

• Apr. 13, 2006 - Journal Sunday 3/26

Today Kayla, Josiah, Daddy, and I went to the Hawfields nursing home because Daddy had to preach a service for the people there. Daddy asked one man named Fred to come to the service. Fred immediatly took to Josiah and Josiah to him. The man was very kind. When it was time to sit down for the service, Fred took a seat beside Josiah. After the service, Josiah gave Fred two pictures. Fred kissed both of them! I could tell that they meant a whole lot to him. I guess Josiah made a new friend.
