7-2-2007 - First Post
Over the last three weeks I have been studying Ancient Egypt. My studies have been more on how does the bible fit in to Ancient Egypt, than on the usual life and culture that is usually studied. One thing of interest I have learned is that the Plagues hurt Egypt not only financially and economically, but spiritually as well. For instants the first plague, the turning of the Nile to blood, not only caused a lack of water and all the fish to die, but it was also a shot at the god of the Nile Hapi (sometimes spelled Hapy). The second plague, the overabundance of frogs, is a direct shot at Hekat (Somtimes Heka) the god of fertility. It's kind of ironic that the frogs, being the symbol on fertility, became so fertile that Pharaoh had to ask Moses to get rid of them. And the ninth plague, darkness, is the most insulting of all. It is directed toward Ra the chief god. Ra was to bring the sun up every morning. Three days without sun shows that Moses's God is the one and only god. So to wrap this up in a hurry so I can go eat I will leave off with this final thought - If God went to all that trouble to show the Egyptians that there trust was in the wrong place, how far will he go to get your attention? And will you be stubborn like Pharaoh?

I love egypt! My Dad's always watching shows about it on the discovery Channel! I'd like to find an ancient tomb. Oh, and tell your brother to write me!
