Tidbits

Aug. 25, 2009 -

Okay, so almost three months ago I posted a little piece having to do with Americans. Just tonight, I showed it to my uncle and he edited it for me. This is how it turned out.

I looked around at the gaunt faces. How long have they been here? I've lost count. All the days are blended into a blur of blood, explosions, and death. Screams echo in my mind. They'll haunt me for the rest of my life – not that that should take long.

“Here.”

The bottle pushed into my hands is near empty now. Another long pull on the whiskey doesn't taste any better than the first, but it dulls my senses. How many times has it passed? At least five. My three happen-stance compatriots wear bloodstained uniforms from their home country. The fire crackles as it slowly dies. Soon it will be gone, like so many of us. Slowly dying until there is nothing left. So many have died, most of them driven by the thrill and adventure. Oh, how they were mistaken. Thrilling it has been, but what began as a fight for the freedom of others is now one of survival for us.

Maybe its the whiskey. I'm not afraid. I am ready to join my comrades in death. My family will put flowers on my grave. My memory will live on in their hearts and minds. I'll be missed, but I'll have cost the enemy a fair price – many times my own life. I am proud to have this chance to serve my country. I am an American.

He said changing it into a present-tense made it sound much better. I agree, its much better than it was. Please please please read both versions and let me know which one you like better!!

Jun. 22, 2009 - Boring stuff

Oh wow, so long since i posted here. near a month, I guess. Oh well. Let's see. Not much to talk about, besides the fact that me, my sister, and two cousins are writing a Prince Caspian fan fic, but we made everyone idiots. Totally. So, on top of that, I've been back and forth between millions of projects including my long neglected novie, A Call to Arms. And if you have no clue what that one is about, you can find it on my main blog, somewhere. I know its there, cuz it is. Basically it was me and my cousin throwing ideas for it around in the grocery store yesterday. Haha. And we talked of many other writing projects we are working on or haven't started yet. So yeah, that's about all I have to say for that. Rather disappointing, isn't it? Well, you'll get over it.

May. 28, 2009 - Ahhh, the wonderful feeling I get..... writer's block.

I am stuck. Horrible, but true. Silenced is at a standstill. No inspiration, nothing. Of course, I have been somewhat busy and have neglected it, but that is not my fault. The next few days are just plain busy. So much to do, so little time. I was hoping to make 10k before I move, but I doubt it will actually happen. But enough of all that bad stuff. I would love to introduce you all to my main charactor in my novie, Terri. Don't worry, she doesn't bite.

*hands keyboard to Terri*

Hello everyone, my name is Terri Gavin and as Samantha said, I am her main character in her *novie* as she has dubbed it. I'm twenty-one years old and was enrolled in college to be a nurse, but that's out of the question now. So, I'm working with my brother and his friends in a basement 24/7. And Samantha cannot scold me for releasing that bit of info, because that isn't really important. Okay, I take it back, it is. My main job down there is to keep the boys awake and out of trouble, which is really hard, cuz they're so hard to predict. You never know what they'll do next. Anyway, that is all i can say about myself. Samantha is yelling at me for giving out so much info, but she can't do anything about it!!!

*gets pushed out of the chair*

Samantha here. Well, you met her, she talked about herself, sorta. So, what did you think? And for anyone who is wondering, no I did not change my name. This is not a different person. Samantha is my pen name, so please do not panic. But if you do, please exit the blog calmly. Thank you!

Its currently 7287 (and counting!!) words long, and I know that doesn't seem like alot, but its a big deal!!

May. 13, 2009 - More Stuff on Writing

Oh boy, I just couldn't wait to give all of you the juicy scoop on my newest novel, my pet, Silenced. It is the first book in what will hopefully be a trilogy, the next two being Shattered and Saved. I got a pretty good idea about all three. Unfortunetly for all of you, I have a long way to go on Silenced, and already have some rewriting to do. ugh. I hate rewriting. I think everyone does. So, until i finish that, and my computer will let me paste the first part on here instead of me typing it by hand, you guys won't see any of it. oh well.

But the good news is, the other night, i sat down in my room and wrote something really cool. My parents and sister really liked it, and my mom wants me to send it to a newspaper. I disagreed, and said i should send it to Obama. haha. anyway, here it is.

He looked around at the gaunt faces. How long had they been here? He had lost count. All of the days had become and endless blur of blood, explosians, and killing. Screams echoed in his mind. They would haunt him for the rest of his life.

"Here."

The bottle was pushed into his hands. He took a drink and passed it on. Whiskey. It dulled his senses, made him sleepy. How many times had it been passed? At least five. The other men, three of them, wore the bloodstained uniforms of their home country. The fire crackled, slowly dying. Soon it would be gone, like so many lives. Slowly dying until there was nothing left. So many had died, most of them driven by the thrill and adventure. Oh, how they were mistaken. Thrilling it was, but hwat had begun as a fight for freedom had become one of survival.

He wasn't afraid. He was ready to join his brave comrades in death. He knew his family would put flowers on his grave. He knew the memory of himself would linger in their hearts and minds. He knew he would be missed. But he was proud to serve his country. He was an American.

Okay, please, please, please comment and tell me what you think, that way i know I'm not a horrible writer.

I guess that's it.

Caio,

Samantha

Be happy for me, all bloggers!! I have a blog specifically for my writings, and not just the stuff that happens day to day. I shall post again on this blog ASAP, but don't expect anything yet. We're moving from the bottom of the US to the top, very soon.
