Vacation

We will be leaving to go on vacation in a few days. After a brief visit with the pastor that married Tim and me, we will be heading toward southwest Missouri. The children are looking forward to Silver Dollar City (an amusement park), husband is looking forward to us staying one night in a cabin on a river, and I am looking forward to no housework, no cooking, and just getting away from the everyday routine. Now normally I am a homebody. I seriously just enjoy being here with my husband and kids more than anything else in the world and this may sound a bit silly but I'm already getting excited about getting back from vacation because we will not have to go anywhere else for a long while. I have many friends that are going all the time and it truly doesn't bother them that much and many that have to go go go or their bored. Not me. Maybe it's just part of getting older or maybe not. I do have a friend that is four years older, homeschools, lives in the country and they are always on the go visiting family, friends, and the children are all actively involved in lessons, clubs, and athletics. So maybe its not the age thing. Maybe it's just me. I am after all a homebody.

I'll get pictures of our Funfest and maybe even a short video and post it when we get back.  Blessings to you! Julie

Hey,
I know exactly how you feel. I would so much rather stay home than be on the road all the time. We made two trips to Louisiana back to back and I really pray that I don't have to make another one anytime soon. Every time we come home from a trip, I go through this little routine of clicking the heels of my shoes together and say,"there's no place like home, there's no place like home." I love being in my own home, with my own family and sleeping in my own bed. Although I am of an older age, my two daughters (ages 17, almost 18 and 20) feel the same way that I do. They also love to stay home. I can honestly say, "like mother, like daughter. :--)
Talk later,
Josephine

I too consider myself more of a homebody. We've done the whole lets rush here and there, busyness = productiveness, blah, blah, blah. It didn't work for me. I also think that now a days, parents need to quit with the 80 activities bit. That's not good for children, they need to learn how to entertain themselves, and just "be".
Their time will come when they can choose to be homebodies or not.
Anyway, I look forward to a get-away, but like you think about returning before I go!

Hi Julie,
Enjoyed your post. I could have written that myself. Shall we join "homebodies anonymous"?? Love, love, love to stay home. And this is a blessing, because we don't have the opportunity to travel all that often anyhow, especially with two dogs. I always enjoy seeing other places, it is just that I have to gear myself up to actually be away and always look forward to home sweet home when it is time to return. I even have days that I say to my family, "I'm not leaving the house for anything today", and if I go put on my comfies they know I'm not budging!
Enjoy your journey and enjoy your return even more!!
blessings,~ Brenda

I hope your vacation was/is going well. I understand what you mean about being a homebody. I like to get out, but being too busy just sends me down the road to burnout (which is where I am by the way 8) ) I'm slowly ramping back up to the blogosphere, so hopefully I'll be dropping by more often.

Old School Marm's Musings & Observations

Sunday-July 20th-2008
This morning I noticed an Eastern Fox
squirrel busily eating a mushroom on our
front lawn. While watching the squirrel, I was
amused when it pulled the stem up and out of the
ground, sat back on his haunches and proceeded to
nibble the stem all up. The squirrel did it so
neatly, I halfway expected him to pull out a
handkerchief and dab at both corners
of it's mouth!

My desire for us as a family is to be more self-
sufficient. We are discussing purchasing a dairy
calf next year with the intention of it being our
source of milk in the future. Self-sufficiency sounds
great, but do I really want to milk a cow?
