A Tribute To My Husband, Tim

The house is quiet except for the washing machine. Tim has taken the children to town and won't be back till noon. He walked out the door this morning with a smile on his face and said, "I love you and relax." I don't nearly give him enough credit as being a great husband and father. He is though. He is also a fantastic teacher and many times has substituted for me while I had an afternoon of "me" time.  Tim used to be a practicing veterinarian but now teaches veterinarian pathology at our local university. He holds two doctorates and has worked very hard for them. My husband is extremely intelligent and most of what is on my blog in the way of pictures and slideshows is due to his helping me. We've had some "rough spots" but I honestly don't know a couple with more than ten years under their belts that hasn't. So with all that said, I would like to commit to my husband:

more hugs

smiles just for him

less arguing and nagging

more interest in his day

less critical remarks and more praise

to laugh more at his jokes

to pray for him more often

to thank God for him

and the really big one...

to show him more respect

I love you, Tim

I have been married 23 years and I have to work very hard at biting my tongue and showing respect. It is well worth it, because it is true that the woman sets the mood in the home. Is that fair?lol
God bless

Beautiful. Praising our husbands in public is a wonderful alternative to criticizing them there.

Early in our marriage, I tried to complain to my mother about my husband, and she stopped me mid-sentence and said, "You're forgetting that I lived with you. You are no picnic!" I often remember those words when I think complaining about my precious husband.

Your Tim is very blessed to have you recognize the gift he is to you. May God continue to draw you both closer to each other and to Him.

Old School Marm's Musings & Observations

Sunday-July 20th-2008
This morning I noticed an Eastern Fox
squirrel busily eating a mushroom on our
front lawn. While watching the squirrel, I was
amused when it pulled the stem up and out of the
ground, sat back on his haunches and proceeded to
nibble the stem all up. The squirrel did it so
neatly, I halfway expected him to pull out a
handkerchief and dab at both corners
of it's mouth!

My desire for us as a family is to be more self-
sufficient. We are discussing purchasing a dairy
calf next year with the intention of it being our
source of milk in the future. Self-sufficiency sounds
great, but do I really want to milk a cow?
