Remember Nature Nellie and her interesting story I had promised several posts ago?
Well, just a little over a week ago I received all these in the mail!

So this is how the story goes. A couple of months ago my friend Sally spied the acorns in a slideshow I had made about our schoolroom nature museum. She wanted them, well the tops that is. Her daughter, an excellent crafter by the way, happened to need some acorn tops for some dolls that she had recently learned how to make.
Sally being the opportunistic homeschooling mother that she is simply asked if I might send her the acorn tops as they haven't an oak tree within two states (just kidding, but they do live in the desert). She was very sweet and wanted to pay for everything to get them there so I was all for "getting them there."
Sally and her daughter sent Nature Nellie not to long after that to show how grateful they were. Well, I then asked if Sally's daughter would mind making me several (eleven) dolls so that I could give them out to our Keepers of the Faith girls at our last meeting. She kindly said yes and voila! ...several weeks later I have these gorgeous dolls to give to our girls.

Look at all that blonde hair! It's actually mohair. That's right it came from mohair goats. I am so smitten with these little dolls.
We had our Keepers meeting this past Thursday. The girls loved the dolls (what's not to love) and oohed and awwed over their hair, outfits, and sweet little acorn hats! Half of the girls weren't able to make it but I'll get their dolls to them at a later date or I will keep them, no I'm just kidding, they will get them, ...maybe.
Thanks Sally for being able to step out of your comfort zone and touch our lives with your family's generosity and love!
Thanks Amy for your hard work and determination in getting all those adorable little dolls made for our Keepers girls!
Blog friends are so cool!
Blessings and have a wonderful weekend, Julie |
