Happy Birthday to Sara

Today is the "Little Woman"s birthday. She is 10, though she wants to be called "1-teen".

Classic Sara.

This is a photo from her party. In this photo we have Sawyer(from Cats Dont Dance), Maid Marian(of Robin Hood fame), Cinderella (the Ever After one), Captain Jack-ette and Annie Oakley.

Happy 10th Birthday Sara!

Off the Floor

Yeah, so I guess the very pathetic number of people (the numbers are pathetic, not the people...I assure you) who read this poorly tended blog must have something against chickens. I got all of one comment! And from a very unlikely source. I shall say no more.

Since my last post, I have graduated from sleeping 6 inches of the floor to a full sized bed! Woot! It is so wonderful! But the real thing that makes me happy about this bed is that my own Papa made it for me.

Here he is putting it together. (I did help, I promise!)

Beautiful, is it not?

My bed is looking so much more decent without gobs of junk all over the place...I have Mom to thank for that.

In celebration of getting the bed set up, I got a bad cold and my flu vaccine. Yay...

Happy Halloween! (All Saints Day or All Hallows Eve the celebration of the communion of the saints and God. Just have to articulate:)

This pint-sized piece of poultry was brought to CC a few weeks ago.
The little girl in the photo raises chickens, so she new how to hold him properly. We call her the "Chicken Whisperer".

Online classes are so much fun, doodah, doodah...

I lurve my online classes, so class!

In Omnibus Pirmary (which we call Omnibus Prime:) we are finishing up the truly timeless Pilgrims Progress. What an amazing work, the epitome of an analogy. Wonderful stuff. I even have a quote from that book! "Every bathtub must stand on its own bottom" by Presumption. I find it quite hilarious:)Our teacher, Mr. B the Destroyer is great, too.

Omnibus Secondary is going really fast. We finished up Frankenstein, which was AMAzing! I love, love, love this book and it was great getting to discuss it with the class and with my teacher. We started Pride and Prejudice today. The boys were a little less than enthusiastic, they wanted to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but Mrs. G did not really approve. Of course, those are the boys that blast electric guitar through the computer speakers before class...

Biology, hmm. I am working on it. I have a really great teacher, Mrs. O, and a fun class, so I should be good, right? Hm. Lets just say that I am the ding a ling in class. "So, how many electrons would that be, dyuh?"

Latin, going fast, furious and fantastic! We read and translated Pandora's Box! It was not very difficult, but I am sure Wheelock has more up his sleeves for us students. Mrs. D is a great teacher, she has a Latin  Bible, how cool is that?

Much fun, learning is great. God is so good to us for allowing our finite liddle beans to take what we are able.

Well, no one is going to want to read this post unless I put something diverting on the bottom, so I'll post a photo or something...

This is me and my Geometry, otherwise called GeoMattri. Death. Ugh. I will survive.
I think.

So, why the cat?

So you all may be wondering why I have(or will have) a cat under an umbrella as my icon. Katy and Pheonix probably know...
Seriously, I have not been able to find any good icons for me, oh well. It is just a placeholder until I find something better.
But, it does has some history to it!
The icon is from the 1997 film "Cats Dont Dance". Such a great film! It is an animated musical set in 1939, choreographed (yes, I am serious) by Gene Kelly, featuring vocals from Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat King Cole) and a 60 million dollar budget! Singular, to say the least.
As weird as it sounds, it is a great little movie. It even has cameos of Cary Grant, Mae West, Bette Davis, Clark Gable, and more popular stars of that time. It is also sports a clever dialogue and story:)
I grew up with this movie (can you not tell!?)

Anyhoo, that is why my icon is of a cat.

"You say ridiculous, I say tomato. Ehyah."

So, you probably thought I had died or something, but no, I have just been rather neglectful in my updates. Sowy.

I had an amazing time at Katy's. We were back in 1st grade again, quoting, singing, taking stupid pictures, the works...
It occured to me, that I have known Katy for nearly a decade! Is that crazy or what?

just like old times....

WE HAVE A HOUSE!

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, I HAVE A HOUSE! For the first time in 6 mos, I will be able to make a house our family home for the next few years! God is so good! And not only in the house *perfect*, it is just a few houses down from the M's(our close friends) it is also diagonal to the pool! How great is That!

Ahem, we might get the keys today, so I might be painting all day, and tomorrow. All our "dust-junk" is coming Thursday...oop. We have 2 days to paint the kitchen, living room, Josh and Caleb's bedroom and possibly the bathrooms. That will be interesting.

I will post pictures.

But, for now I am going to post a photo that I took on the Church canoe and ferry trip to Bear Island!

how pretty! It was ridiculously humid, though. Ug!

Scotland...woot woot!

Okay, so, Nana and I are in Scotland! Yay!

So far we have enjoyed London, Oxford, Stratford and Warwick before hopping on a train to Glasgow to meet our tour. The next day, we saw a Stirling Castle, a bunch of Lochs, the Trussocks and a lot more! Today we moved from our hotel on Loch Lomond to our hotel in Inverness. We saw the Loch Ness monster! Yay! Well, okay, she was in a swimming pool.....okay! She was a statue! But that counts doesn't it?

Tomorrow, Nana and I will explore Inverness, I am really excited!

Will write later,

Onedaymore

photos that go with the previous post

Here are the photos I mentioned in my last post!

This is the dog I found while running. Sorry that the shot is blurry, but she (and Caleb) would not hold still.

This is Atticus (RIP)

this was his favorite spot to sit on (my shoulder)

And this is one of the photos I took at H and M's wedding! They were being pelted by H's brothers armed with bird seed.

Where to start....

So, Where to start!

I rescued a baby Mockingbird. Who died. I cried.
I'll post photos later. He (Atticus was his name) loved to sit on my shoulder and be hand fed, squawking all the while. I miss him...*sigh*.

The dog that I caught and tried to find a home for, got to live with a good family! She was living under her owner's trailer with a collar too small for her neck. I think she must have jumped the fence, or something (I would!) because I found her in the road while I was running. Anyway, she went to stay with a Pastor and his family for a while, until the owner came to take the dog back. Long story short, the owner couldn't keep the dog and gave her to the loving family! That news made my day!

I did a wedding video for some friends of ours. I'm still working on it, though!

I am leaving for the UK on the 22nd. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Scary, but fun! I am *so* very excited!

Father's Day is this weekend, but everybody knows that....

Hope you all have a good week!

So tired....

This is a pretty pathetic post, but I thought I should write up something new...

I think I shall ask a very interesting and ground-breaking question to anyone who drops by!

Q: What is your favorite Poem/Limerick or Nursery Rhyme?

I like East is East and West is West by Rudyard Kipling myself. And if you are in the mood for something goofy and whimsical, look up The Jabberwocky  by Lewis Carrol.

I can't wait to hear what you have to say!

Williamsburg: Part I of the Historic Triangle

Thank you for all the comments in the last post! I love reading and returning comments, so thanks for dropping by!

As I mentioned in my last post, we have been up to visit the Historic Triangle: Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestowne. And anyone who knows me knows that a camera had to be involved during this daring set of expeditions. I'll only post a few, since I took about 300 total(heh).

this was a very passive ox that we visited in the Farmer's area of Colonial Williamsburg.

The gate to the British representative's Mansion.

Ever heard of a Jack-In-The-Box? I made a Josh-In-The-Stocks!

Yes, yes, those are real tears....

This is Red Pawed Jill. She is our, uh, roaming kangaroo...This year she is going to be visiting the UK.

All of us at the Carpenter's Workshop.

Then there was this guy plucking a pigeon....

I found the costumes fascinating, everything was so neat!

Well, That was a lot of pictures, but they were the highlights of Williamsburg I guess.

Have a good rest of the week!
