Feb. 6, 2008 - How we got here
I've been homeschooling for six months now. I read (and continue to read) every piece of information and every book that I can get my hands on that have to do with homeschooling. Like the trait I wish to instill in my children, I absolutely love learning. I always said that I would be a full-time student forever if I could afford it. Unfortunately, I have to pay off my loan from graduate school first.
A little about myself. I am 31 years old and from Pennsylvania. I moved to Georgia after I graduated undergrad with a degree in psyc and elementary education. There I met and married my wonderful husband, Jason. We also had our first daughter, Ariella (8) and then I started back to school, working on an on-line graduate degree in family counseling. before moving back up north. We decided to move to PA and vacation in Montana (where his family lives). Although that may switch in the upcoming months...but that's a whole other entry!
After buying our first house...a real fixer-upper, we had our second daughter, Kaylah(4). I graduated around that time, too. After a few years, we got that house fixed to how we like it, so we decided to put it up for sale, see how much we get for it, and if we didn't get any good offers we'd stay in it. Well, the night before our appointment with a realtor, a neighbor brought her friend through and that night a deposit was given. Fortunately, we already had our eyes set on another fixer-upper (not so bad as the first) and we were able to fix it up to be moved into upon settlement of the first.
New house, new baby. Although, in our case, we ended up having babIES! Twins! Our third daughter, Milana and first son, Jason (1) came into our lives. See, our house was three bedrooms when we moved in, but between buying the house and hearing that we were going to have twins, we converted a bedroom to a dining room and made a three bedroom house into a two bedroom house. A Cape Cod. So, yes, we're a close family! Can you see why we may have to move?
