Well... I have decided to do it.

Here it is... the prologue to the second book of my trilogy.  And what happened to the first book, you may be wondering?  It... well... er... *cough* *Ihaven'tquitewrittenityet* *cough*

Prologue

J’Dak had found them at last.  He had been looking for them for the past several years.  And Aze…he thought.  “K’el, can you sleep down here?”  He knew the answer – of course K’el could.  Dragons could sleep practically anywhere.  J’Dak curled up against his blue dragon.  Then he began to remember.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
J’Dak was an elf; he lived with all the other elves, including his large family.  It was a rather wet day, not raining, but close to it, dark.  J’Dak, Vearew, and Aze were flying their dragons before the storm started.  Vearew winced as he scanned the sky.  “Aze, J’Dak, we really need to get back to Lonya.  It’s going to storm.”  The other two elves trusted Vearew’s judgment about anything related to weather – he was always right.
As they skimmed over forests Aze began the song: “I would run to you… if you called me…”
J’Dak grinned at her, giving her courage.  The rain already whipped into his face.  As his hair flew into his eyes, he sang back, “And I would fly to you… if I had wings…”  He and Aze laughed.  The song had obviously been written by a human, because the elves had wings: their dragons.  Vearew glanced at them.  He didn’t really understand Aze or J’Dak in a way – he was only half-elven.  Then he looked down at his green dragon, Swi.  Swi wanted to get home.
Lightning flashed as the waterfall churned beneath them.  A wind swept through, shaking the leaves on a thousand trees in Lonya.  It caught K’el’s outstretched wings, and sent him plummeting down, towards the waterfall.  They were falling.
 Faintly J’Dak heard Aze’s voice, “J’DAK!!!”  She dove towards the water on Copper.  Yet there was nothing they could do.  “J’Dak!”  he heard Aze’s voice above the storm.  It was an anguished cry.  It faded when he smacked into the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.  The sky had darkened when he woke up.  He was lying beside a still-damp K’el.  J’Dak looked up at his dragon.  “K’el, where are we?” he asked, frightened.  The dragon showed him the image.  He  recognized the general shape, a town, called Riscon-Morg.  “WHAT!” he cried, thinking, this is miles from Lonya… I don’t even know how to get home.  As it turned out, neither did K’el.  The dragon wasn’t even sure that they were in Riscon-Morg; it was just his best guess.
The next years were a blur in J’Dak’s memory of riding K’el in all weather, searching and searching for the elves, who seemed to have vanished.  J’Dak could have taken up a new life.  Finding work was easy if you were as skilled as he was in many areas of craftsmanship.  He had to work, several times, to pay for food.  People were always sorry to see him leave, but J’Dak knew that he did not belong there.  He never would.
Yet J’Dak continued to look for Aze, and his family.  J’Sûl, the oldest and his red dragon, Ganeve.  Ganeve was a queen of dragons, and a wonderful flyer.  Then there was the next boy, Ebey.  His black and silver dragon Leofare was unique, with the most beautiful shadings and the calmest temperament of any dragon J’Dak had ever seen.  J’Dak was the next oldest.  There was finally an elf-maiden three years after him.  Her name was Ciana.  Her blue dragon was called Asora.  Another boy, Kalim.  His dragon, Ril, was K’el’s brother.  But Ril was neon green, not blue.  There were two younger girls, Narhwesta and Lemi.  Narhwesta (or Narië, as everyone called her) had a purple dragon, Irene.  Lemi was the youngest of J’Dak’s brothers and sisters.  Her yellow dragon, Quessi, was small, too.  Actually, Quessi had just hatched before J’Dak fell into the waterfall.
Finally, that very afternoon, J’Dak had found the elves’ camp.  He landed K’el beside a pond, and caught a glimpse of his reflection – the first time that he had seen himself in 3 years!  YUCK!  His hair hadn’t been cut that whole time.  It fell past his shoulders.  And he was dirty!  Ruefully J’Dak noticed his clothes.  Anyway, they used to be clothes.  Most elves in Lonya wouldn’t even consider using them as rags!
For three years he had concentrated on finding other elves, but now a thought stunned him.  “They…won’t…recognize me!” he cried.  “They think that I am dead, gone – they will never believe that it is me!”  J’Dak’s voice cracked as he broke down for the first time and sobbed.  So that afternoon he had decided to wait, near their camp yet not in it…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

J’Dak went to sleep.

so... please let me know what you think... how I can improve it... etc...

Thanks!

Come sword-dance

It's good!

*grins* Although, I think it's a bit choppy at parts. Don't really have any other complaints. It's wonderful! ^_^

Nice

That sounds very interesting, good job.

By the way, where is Lonya?

Is the first book about JDak? Are you going to put all of the second book on your blog?

As for writing tips, you are doing well, maybe you could tell us where everything is going on, but otherwise its fine.

Thanks!

Hmm... where Lonya is... kinda difficult to explain. Maybe I'll scan the map once we get the scanner hooked up. :P Basically, it's to the south of Murnia, to the East of Gazigway, and to the West of Riscon-Morg. (I bet that helped you a lot!)No, J'Dak began as a main character, but he really didn't end up being. The first book is about Aze's brother, Tio.

I don't know if I'll post the whole thing or not.

And Mahtaliel... you're right. It is kinda choppy. I just don't feel like rewriting it at the moment. *sigh*

Hi!

I feel like you have just barely introduced the characters... a lot of them all at once... I want you to tell me more about them....

Well. . .

Have you decided what you are going to do about your story?

I would really like to read the rest of it.

(No, that doesn't give me much of an idea of the directions and wherabouts of Lonya, but I will try to pick it up - if you continue writing.)

With you on the Quest,
