Teaching the three ortiz kids!

Christmas baking, making gifts and such.

Since the begining of November I have been planning out what I was going to do for gifts for family and friends for the Holidays. I have decided this year to try to scale down what we spend on christmas and make as many of the gift I can. Here are some of my ideas.
The first one is a candle that is decorated. I was at a women's prayer breakfast for my church and they always do a craft at these, the craft was decorating a candle. You take a pillar candle and paint the outside of it with glue, then put some tissue paper on it where you put the glue; then more glue, then roll the candle in some clear crystal glitter. Let it dry, this is a very pretty and simple gift. Here is a pic of the one I made for myself.

This was a fun project and so easy. I went to Michaels and bought some more candles, tissue paper, and glitter. I will be making some of these for some family and friends.

Some of the other things I have been making is some latchhook projects for my nieces, I will be turning these into pillows for them.
I crocheted a blanket and baby hat for my sisters new baby born two days before thanksgiving.
I am knitting a blanket for my mom, not finished yet.
Knitting a scarf for my sister, still in progress.
Knitting some scarves for my kids, still in progress.
And the last think I am working on is picture scrapbooking on my computer. I have a program called Scrapbooks plus. This program allows you to create photo projects on you computer with all sorts of different layouts like scrapbooking. I really like it and I have made several for some of my family. I will probably make a few more.
Here is one:

Ok now I said in the Title I do baking too, well I do. But so far I have only made two things.
I made the pumpkin pie for thanksgiving from scratch with frest pumpkins. I have a pic of one I did last year up above. It is easy to do this, you just have to cut open the pumpkins, scoop out the seeds. lay in a cookie sheet with a little bit of water; bake at 350 degrees for about an hour and your done. When they are cool, you scoop out the cooked pumpkin and use in any recipe that calls for cooked pumpkin.

I also used some of this cooked pumpkin for some pumpkin muffins.
I have not made any other goodies as of yet,but I will be making, fudge, sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, cream cheese mints, peppermint bark, and maybe some new recipies if I find any. I also have in the past made friendship bread, but I don't know if I will get to that this year. Stay tunned. I will post when I make something new and try to remember to take pictures.
Happy Holiday making!!
