Our 50 Great States

Feb. 17, 2020 - Gearing up for Our 50 Great States LAUNCH!

I got this great idea a while back to study the 50 states. So I began gathering worksheets, plans and ideas. I came across the Enchanted Learning Fun Day calendar and thought: "NEAT! We'll study each state on it's birthday!"

Well, we did ONE STATE. It was AWFUL!

I should have known better than to spring an entire state on my kids, it was NOT pretty.

So I am going to push forward and start this fall October 12, 2009 to be precise!

I got the book "The Complete Book of Presidents & States" grades 4-6 from American Education Publishing...

I also bought the 50 States - State Study Complete Notebooking Set with Bonuses from CurrClick, I paid $39.99 now it is on sale for $29.99! And the States & Capitals workbook and CD from Twin Sisters.

And I have a file with recipes from each state, if you have HST+ I can share the lesson plan with you.

Plus we will scrap a page for each of the states with the 50 States cartridge for my Cricut machine.

I have scoured the library "card catalog" for book for various age brackets and I am compiling a list of books I think I will need to buy since the library likes to have their books back in 2 weeks and this study will be at least 25 weeks long.

Finally I am PREPARING the children so they know we'll be doing 2 states a week starting OCTOBER 12, 2009!

So prayerfully this go round we will not have any more bad hair days!

There are literally hundreds of things I could tell you to buy for this Unit Study. And of course I would LOVE for you to use my affiliate links to buy it all. But realistically I understand that none of us wants to spend a small fortune on a Unit Study. So here are a few selected "must haves" and some of my favorites that are on my "wishlist" as well.

I bought this at Sam's Club for under $7, each "older" child will need one of these.

USA Laminated Map $15 or less

Look for this at Wal Mart this fall (when the school sales start) last year I bought a 2 pack laminated USA and World Map for $10.
