100th day of school

Posted in Projects

We have finally hit our 100th day of school!  Here in PA, we are required to do 180 days of school or 900 hours of school.  I have chosen the days... it's easier to keep track of.  I had the kids draw pictures of themselves when they would be 100 and they had to write a 100 word (exactly) story about what it would be like to be 100.  Then I had made them a fun color sheet of themselves to color.

We are on vol 1. chapter 15 (Joseph, Insects and Food Preservation) in our Weaver Studies.  Today we made venison jerky... to teach them about food preservation.  DH had good timing with wanting to make jerky!  We made original flavor, teriaki and hot and spicy.  The last batch is still dehydrating.... so, I'll be anxious to taste it because it's the hot and spicy.  Here's a couple of pictures of the kids making their teriaki jerky this morning.

DD13 found out how cold it is to hand mix meat!  BONE CHILLING!!!

DD7 and DS11 used the jerky press to put it on the dehydrater.

They all had fun... and all enjoy eating the end product!

Congratulations on reaching the 100th day of school! At the beginning, it seemed like we would take a LONG time to reach 100 but it has gone pretty quickly. We actually reached our 100th day TODAY! HOORAH!
We are on Chapter 10 of Volume 1.
Where did you purchase your dehydrator? I have been thinking of getting one to dry our garden foods in the summer.

My mom blessed us with our dehydrater... but probably bought it at Walmart. HOORAY... It's always exciting making it to the 100th day of school! We're past the middle of the year. Good for you guys! ;-)

Hey Kris. It's me, Tracy. I love your blog! The pictures of the kids are so great...I am just in love with them. And Leticia looks just like you in one of them...it was like seeing a small version of you. Amazing! I'm so proud of you and your family for everything you do together. You're a great wife, mother and now teacher and I'm just in awe. I don't think I could do it all!

Anyway, I love you always and even though this says "anonymous" because I'm not a user, it's me. lol

HUGS,
Tracy
