Well, we just finished reading Little House in the Big Woods.  We still have a few more things to finish up before moving into Little House on the Prairie. 

Yesterday we worked on making a poster on the "new" Food Pyramid.  This will help when we have to talk about the different nutritional things when we come to them in the books.  I like visuals. 

We also learned about the old folk song, "Oh! Susanna!"  It was written by Stephen Foster & first published Feburary 25, 1848.  We listened to a couple of performances on YouTube.  dd8 decided she really liked this song and walked around singing it the rest of the day!  We looked into the history of the song and also the life of Stephen Foster. 

I also worked on a Timeline book for dd8.  The older two kids have had there's for a few years.  When they remember they add things to their timelines which help to give them a visualization of when things happened in history.  This will be an ongoing book throughout their homeschool education.
