The Road Less Traveled
• Oct. 1, 2007 - Now!
Have you ever noticed that immediate concerns happen in multiples? Our Garfield impersonator deposited another stinky in her litter, and if I don't clean it out now, we will all die of olfactory shock; my two year old, feeling left out of the cat's shenanigans, did the same thing in his diaper- I must change it now, or spend the rest of my life cleaning its contents off of the furniture and carpet, as he will feel inclined to take it off and spread the wealth; the phone is ringing now with a call that I have been expecting; the mail carrier is here now with the only package that I will receive this year that requires a signature. I have been praying for God to divide me into several people so that this is never a problem again, but so far, nothing...
Speaking of God, He recently answered a big "now" need for my family. Our only vehicle had health problems for a while, but a few weeks ago it left us for good. While my husband was out with our boys, the transmission blew. The Lord was kind and kept it going long enough to get my family home. It died right before reaching our driveway. We could not afford to buy either a new transmission or another car. My husband called about getting a loan, which was a long shot, given our credit. This was difficult, but God worked out all the details. We were approved for a small loan. My husband was, at the same time, frantically searching Uncle Henry's for a used vehicle that was inexpensive and running. He found one! The owners were asking just under the amount we needed for the vehicle- leaving us with enough left over to cover state-related charges. Did I mention that it was exactly the type of vehicle we have wanted for a long time, but have not been able to afford? Yes, the Lord gave us a mini-van with many luxury features that our car did not have. What a blessing we received! It served as a reminder to me that God loves us and takes care of us, always! |
