We are heading to the doctor with Noah in a few minutes. He started having diarrhea again yesterday then was up all night vomitting. He is already so terribly thin that we can see his ribs now. I don't know how much reserve he really has at this point. He is feverish and his pulse is racing so fast I can't count it. He is still somewhat responsive at this point but I am not going to wait any longer, esp. on a Friday. I don't want to be in the ER this weekend with strange doctors. I cannot comprehend how this baby has gotten the stomach flu twice in 5 weeks. No one else is sick. I am SO protective of him right now. He isn't in any kind of daycare of course. I only take him into the church nursery to nurse him and I bring his own toys in case he wants to sit on my lap and play. He isn't allowed to touch the nursery toys or be off my lap. He rides in a baby carrier up against me if we are out in public - never in a cart. I have Purel in my diaper bag and we all use it when we leave each store. (NO, I never used to be obsessive like this LOL but since he has been sick so much we will do anything to protect him.) Last time he got this no one else got it. It is so strange. They have talked about upper GI tests but it would take a feeding tube to get the barium into him so we have held off. Our regular doctor isn't in today so we will see one of his partners. Dr. Riley is a great doctor who we have seen before. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will be a good thing. Jeff is flying to Kansas on Sunday morning. Please pray that we will have clear direction if he needs to cancel that trip. I won't have time to email many if any people before we run out so if you read this and know someone who would want to know, please pass this along. Blessings, Kate |
