Noah had a routine doctor’s visit yesterday. Since he has gotten so sick so fast several times now, the doctor likes to see him for a scheduled visit at least once a week. Unfortunately we are often in his office in between the scheduled visits. The visit went well. Noah has an upper respiratory infection with a low grade fever, but it is not anything that warrants antibiotics at this time. He hasn’t gained a single ounce in a couple of weeks and is only up about 6-7 ounces since his 6 month checkup which was 2 ½ months ago. The doctor didn’t have the results of his most recent blood work yet. On an utterly happy note, Noah got a Bumbo Seat (http://www.bumboseat.com/ ) yesterday. He hasn’t really had enough head/trunk control to use one until recently. We didn’t think we could afford one until I remembered that he was given a Babies R Us gift card and we could use that online to order his seat. I have to tell you, that baby loves his seat! I think he has been frustrated at always lying down or being a little propped up. He has a strong, curious drive to explore and interact but doesn’t have the strength to sit upright. This has meant LOTS of time in the arms of family members. We love holding him, but it is wonderful to see him able to sit up and play and have fun! He sat on the table while we had lunch, sat on the floor with his brothers while they played racecars (loved that!) and sat on my bed last night while I got ready for sleep. He also got two new Swaddle Me blankets (http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_swad.php) which were a huge blessing. Our babies always sleep swaddled, and when I was pregnant with Noah I heard about these blankets. They Velcro closed so that the baby stays swaddled snuggly. I can put him down and pick him up and he stays wrapped. Noah uses them when he is sleepy or when he is sick and needs comfort – needless to say, his are threadbare from use, so it was terrific to receive two new ones. Hannah and I are heading off on an adventure with two friends today. We are going to an organic gardening workshop while my in-laws enjoy a day at the park with the boys and Sarah. I really can’t remember the last time I did something like this just for fun and I am eager to go enjoy the fellowship and the teaching. Blessings, Kate |
