Great Day!

Posted in Noah Updates

We all had such a great day today.  I had an OB visit which went well.  This is a picture-perfect pregnancy.  The doctor said I was on "cruise control" and didn't need to come back for 4 weeks.  This is truly amazing as I was in every week or at best every other week with Noah.  I haven't been able to "take care of myself" in terms of resting, napping (hah!) etc. but have been faithful with my insulin pump, vitamins, etc..  God is just taking care of the rest and I feel really good overall.  I AM quite tired many days, but that isn't much to fuss about, right?!

Noah was very happy most of the day today and was willing to play on the floor near me instead of plastered to me.  He has had some real giggle fits which are such a joy.  He even woke up happy and was lunging at each family member to get hugs when he first saw them this morning.

One of his therapists (Hi, Joy!) was here today and mentioned an amazing ministry in which she and her mother participate.  It is a whole set of outreaches in Ukraine.  Joy's mom actually goes there for several weeks each year.  One of the many things they do is a pregnancy outreach ministry.  They are located near the local abortion clinic and the clinic has agreed to send the girls to the ministry before they see the abortionist!   The primary reason for abortions in this area is overwhelming poverty.  These girls don't have ANYTHING for their babies and don't have a way to get anything, so they feel trapped.  The ministry gives each girl a card, and if they have their babies, they can give the card to the hospital workers who then call the ministry.  Someone from the ministry will come to the hospital and deliver an entire girl or boy layette with enough supplies and clothes to last an entire year!  There is a real need for very warm items in all sizes and plenty of blankets as it gets to 30 degrees below zero there.

The children were fascinated by what Joy shared and decided that they each wanted to make a fleece blanket for a baby.  We went to the fabric store and they each selected two prints so they could make the blankets double sided.  They also had to select prints "from" Noah and Abigail.    We are going to have a blanket day next week and may have some friends join us.  We are just doing the simple fringed and tied blankets.  It is such a joy and blessing to see the children excited about making and praying over these blankets.  They all wanted to make more than one blanket, but I told them they had to finish their first one before they could do another one.  The container leaves on November first, so some of them may complete more than one blanket if they work hard.

We finished getting ready for our big apple adventure tomorrow.  We won't get home until late, so I probably won't post tomorrow.  Please pray for safety and that Noah would feel good.  It makes me just a teeeny bit nervous to be so far from home with him right now.  We'll take plenty of backup supplies for his line and pump.

Love,
Kate

How wonderful to read such a cheerful post! I love to hear that Noah is giggling and was playing on the floor today. Praise the Lord!

I am excited about Joy's ministry to orphans of Ukraine. We adopted our son from Ukraine, and would love to learn more about this ministry, since our hearts are truly sensitive to the children we left behind. Could you post a link? We are involved in Life2Orphans which works specifically with orphans in Ukraine, but sadly it is not a Christian ministry. They do wonderful humanitarian works but we'd love to be more involved in a Christian ministry there.

My family has been praying for lots of things for Noah recently, but have also been praying for just 'a good day' for all of you to share. How wonderful!!! Have another one tomorrow!

Thanks for all of your updates. My husband and children ask every night at supper how Noah is, and it will be wonderful to say he had a great day!

Still praying for you all from Arizona! Joy Gray

So glad that today was a great day and it is so wonderful to hear that Noah is laughing and eager for the other children's hugs!

We, too, are interested in Joy's ministry. The blankets are a wonderful way to minister from home and I am positive our own children would love to do something too. Do they send shipments often? Thanks for sharing about this ministry and how your children are taking part.

Blessings of safety and joy apple picking tomorrow,
The Gould Family

for your "normal" day, Noah giggling & re-adjusting to the family, and for Abigail's "cruise control" pregnancy. God is awesome, isn't He?

Could you please post some more information about Joy's ministry? Maybe a link or where to send items for the container?

(I crochet baby things and for "some" reason I have an overabundance of baby yarn that I don't normally have. It's a "God thing" because I have been waiting for an opportunity such as this!) :)

Thank you for sharing your lives. You are an amazing family!

Sounds like a wonderful day! I am so happy to hear to Noah was feeling more himself and laughing and playing today : ) What a neat ministry to the Ukraine that is. My aunt did a couple of years of missionary work there and we have friends that have just recently moved to Kiev to do work with some of the schools there. Would you be able to post a link or way to find out more about donating clothing and such to them? Keeping all of you in my prayers, and how wonderful that your pregnancy is going super!
Thinking of you,
Rosina

Could you share with us the name of the ministry? We were listening to Christian radio today and there was a commercial that mentioned abortion. So, my 8 1/2 year old asked what that was and I did my best to explain. After reading your blog I thought maybe this would be a great thing to do with her to make a difference.

Yea - It sounds like Noah is happy to be home!
Please, Lord, continue to help Noah to get strong everyday.
Please keep the Estes family safe tomorrow as they travel. Keep Noah and his tummy troubles under raps so that the family can have some fun together!!
Have fun make apple stuff.........Yummmm!!! We do not have apple orchards out here - we have everything else.
Wow...............your family blanket project sounds so cool. I love stories like that. And we love to help.
To bad there wasn't more time - I am sure that we could've popped put a few blankets, too.

What a blessing to hear the 'tone' of your posts STILL so thankful and gracious. That takes a DAILY walk and continual crying out to our Heavenly Father! May HE bless you and your sweet family above and beyond anything you could ask or think. We are excited with you for your being at home with your family along with Noah. We are still daily (multiple times throughout the day) crying out for Noah's healing and your entire family. The LORD has been speaking to MY heart about waiting patiently on Him...even when I think 'it has been long enough!' (Grin) So, I am trying to settle in...and that is what I see you all doing.
Grace and Peace,

We just gave a blanket to a friend to donate to a hospital in their name. What a joy that was for us to do as a family... while we chatted and prayed for them.

I pray that you too will really enjoy your blanket making and cherish those memories!!
