We couldn't get a hold of Noah's regular nurse, but the on-call nurse feels that the broviac is out of position and was unwilling to attempt a dressing change. No problem with us - we were scared of that too! We are heading to the Greenville Children's ER so they can x-ray and assess the line. This way the dressing can be removed in an ER with all of the equipment needed to handle a bleeding emergency. The children are devastated, I am just tired and vaguely stunned that we are going back when he has been doing SO well. It is possible that this isn't actually an emergency and that the line is OK and we will be home. Just pray for God's hand of protection on that line for the 1 + hour drive to the ER. I'm a little concerned about the carseat hitting that line and messing with it more. Honestly, Jeff and I can't complain about this. We've been praying for little Madeline all day and this is just SO minor in comparison. This is fixable, even if it means surgery and a hospital stay. I will either update from a hospital room OR my own home as soon as I can. Love, Kate |
