Broviac is looking good!

Posted in Noah Updates

I didn't update earlier because I wanted to see what today would bring.  Our wonderful home health nurse came out to do Noah's labs and we did a dressing change while she was here.  I wasn't able to get a good look at his site when they changed the dressing in the ER.  The bed was shaped like an elephant and I was up at the elephant's head being gored in the belly by its trunk  :-) while trying to hold down Noah's hands.  When we took the dressing off today it was clear that while the stitches have stretched, they are still in place.  His chest still looks pretty sore (and the dressing change was obviously extremely painful - much more than usual) but the line is working fine!  Our nurse spoke with our surgeon and we don't need to take Noah in.  We'll start adding steri-strips to his line to secure it for each change, but that is it.

We are praying that Noah didn't catch anything from the ER waiting room which was full of coughing toddlers and babies.  He seems just fine right now except for being sore.  He is standing alone for longer and longer periods and I'm starting to think we might even see some steps in the next few weeks!   That would be so exciting.

I had a great OB visit today.  I honestly felt terrible yesterday.  I had terrible edema and was achy and stiff from so many hours in a hard ER chair, but I felt better when I got up today.  My blood pressure is totally back to its usual wonderful self - I think 102/72 today - and I treated myself to a two hour nap with Noah when I got back from the OB.  I used to nap almost every afternoon when I was pregnant with the other ones, but can't see to find the time (or give myself permission) to do so now.  I really needed to go to the grocery store but decided it could wait until tomorrow.  :-)

I bought some ice cream and cones at the store this weekend and the dc have been so excited all day looking forward to ice cream cones for dessert (big treat).  I grated up a little chocolate for "sprinkles" which has them now nearly over the moon. They are finished eating so I'd better get out the scoop and get busy LOL.

Love,
Kate

It's so good to read the good news here! That's wonderful that he's close to walking. We think that our Susanna (2yrs1mo) is getting closer to learning to run. :-) Continuing to pray for Noah and your family.

Love, Dawn
