Greenville??

Posted in Noah Updates

We may be looking at an admission for Noah today.  His swelling is worse.  I took him for a haircut (our stylist cleared out her room so he wouldn't be exposed to any bugs) and he didn't do well.  He hates having his hair cut and usually cries.  Today he just leaned against me with a very sad face and actually fell asleep while she was cutting.  You moms understand that with a sick baby, crying and yelling is actually much better than falling asleep during a haircut!

I had a sense in my heart that something was wrong, and as soon as I walked back in the door at home, the phone rang.  It was ID calling to tell me that his latest C. Diff. cultures are STILL positive.  Since I had the ID nurse on the phone I mentioned the other areas of concern and asked her what we should be watching for/if his nurse should draw some labs, etc.  She felt that he probably needed to be admitted.  I've been on the phone with a number of people.  His cardiologist called and feels that this is probably NOT primarily a cardiac issue but that he supports an admission today.  He was going to call ID back and let them make the final call.  If Noah is admitted, Dr. Raunikar (cardiology) wants to do a workup tonight.  If not, he wants to see us at 9:00 tomorrow morning.

If Noah is admitted, I'll go up with Jeff and stay through dinner.  While I'm there I am going to contact the Ronald McDonald house across the street and see about getting the family moved in tomorrow.  I don't think I could stand being at home while my little guy was in the hospital in Greenville.  Please pray that we can work those logistics out if Noah is admitted.

I'll update when we know something more.

Love,
Kate

Kate,

I am so sorry to hear of the possible trip to Greenville. We are on the way to Greenville ourselves. My grandmother passed away yesterday afternoon. We will be back and forth from home to there for the rest of the week. We'll be praying for Noah. I'll keep checking the e-mail to see if you've been admitted.

Love and prayers to you all,
Joy

Mar. 4, 2008 - alternatives??

Posted by Anonymous

Kate/Jeff,
I was wondering if you were open to alternatives to antibiotics to treat the c. diff.? If you are, here is a link to an Australian website. They have a doctor's page for you to have your physician lookup the technical stuff. This treatment seems to be working and doesn't need to be done orally. I hope this is something you look into, for Noah's sake. You are all in our prayers.

That "IF" Naoh is admitted, they can get teh C.Diff under control while yo are there. My 16 yr.old experienced this sevreal times before starting Sub_Q IgG Therapy(the alternate to IV form). It was hard, So, I know how hard it can be on all of you!!!!
I pray that you won't have to stay long & return home in a matter of days!!!! The RMH is a wonderful place for the children & you to stay. They have all sorts of things the "well" children cando & a wonderful place of rest for you & Jeff!!!!

Hey Kate & Jeff
There is a very special family at Greenville. Their 6 yr old has downs syndrome. She is battling a rare dorm of Leukenmia that only Downs children are suspectable to. Their Son Evan is 3. Mom is Cathy & Dad is Tully. If you get the chance look them up.
The Daughter is Caylyn. here is her site. http://www.visit/caringbridge.org/visit/caylynbachman
Cahty is a very good encourager & they ARE Christians. You may run into her at the RMH.
Peace be with you ALL!!!!

for things to work out for the Ronald Macdonald House!!!
That would sure make things work a whole lot easier! It might work for you and your family. If I remember right - it depends on availability and distance of the family.
But yes, you were right - a baby falling asleep during the haircut - NOT GOOD!!! Somethings out of whack! We'll pray that it's a short trip - Lord Willing!

Hugs & Prayers & Blessings from the Kiesssling family from Fresno, California

We have been remembering Noah and your family every day in prayer, though I haven't had much time online lately and haven't posted a comment.

We continue to pray for you all, and that God will shower you with many blessings over the next few days.

Praying for Noah and your family. I love reading in your posts how you are able to keep a sense of humor even in the midst of the trials. That really helps, doesn't it? Lord bless you!
