Lots of pictures :-)
Posted in Noah Updates
OK, photo-lovers, this blog is just for you! We didn't go see the nephrologist yesterday, because I couldn't find my keys. How pitiful is that!? Hannah had used them to unlock the van and SWORE that she put them on my desk, but we couldn't find them anywhere and we had to reschedule our appt. (No big deal, nothing urgent.) While I was in the house searching for the keys, a friend called and asked if we wanted to meet up with her family at the zoo after our appointment. We really didn't want to say no to that, so I arranged to get Jeff's copy of my van key and we headed to Greenville later that day. We had a great time at the zoo, then went to a local park so the children could run around and climb on rocks by the waterfall there. Here are some photos of the fun . . .
Noah at the zoo:
Here is Timothy relaxing at the park.
Here are some of Sarah at the park. The fact that she is near a body of water and still stayed clean enough for me to photograph is truly a miracle.

Sweet little David:

Here Timothy is standing in front of some BIG tree roots. They went way up past this photo - this only shows about half. He really wanted to climb them, but Mean Mommy said no. :-)
I don't know if I've ever mentioned that our family does 18th century reenacting. That means that we dress up as if we were living before the Revolutionary War and we go to historical events where we act in character for that time. We had an event a couple of weeks ago. It was kind of spur-of-the-moment so only Hannah, Matthew, and David dressed out. I need to make a new gown for Sarah, a new pair of breeches and a shirt for Timothy, and shifts (simple white dresses) for Noah and Mary Faith. I'm hoping to make a new outfit for myself as well, but we'll have to see . . . anyway, I have some photos from the reenactment. We'll be doing more this summer if Noah stays stable enough. Once we can get his cooling vest we will be able to put it under his shift so he won't stand out, and we have permission from the historical site for him to use his stroller and to be hooked up to an IV when needed.
Here is Matthew.
Here is Mary Faith. She is so funny sticking out her little tongue! I can't wait to finish her little shift so she can be Colonial Girl. :-)

Here is Matthew again with a Cherokee Indian. Yep, those really are that guy's ears!! Matthew got to shoot the arrows with this gentleman and had a GREAT time.

Here is Hannah weaving. Colonial settlers had to make EVERYTHING. If they wanted clothes, they started with flax plants (to make linen) or sheep (to make wool). Hannah is weaving "tape" with is a long thin woven strip used for belts, ties for clothing that tied shut, drawstrings, etc.

Noah rode/slept in his stroller most of the day, but we finally persuaded him to get out and run about a little. Doesn't he look great?!

Hope you enjoyed the photos!
Love,
Kate

Wonderful photos!! Thank you Kate! I'm one of your regular blog readers who can never get enough photos, so I feel like you posted this just for me! :-) Noah looks GREAT. It does my heart good to see him so healthy looking. I am very curious to know where you found your pattern for colonial breeches, and particularly a haversack? (I think I saw a haversack strap on Matthew's shoulder?) I have searched and searched and have not been able to find a breeches pattern. I could probably make a haversack on my own, but I'm not a talented enough seamstress to make breeches without a pattern. I know you are a very busy mama, but if you have a moment and could drop me a quick email I'd be so appreciative!

What a wonderful outing for Noah and the family. A beautiful day enjoyed by all. So good to see Noah toddling along!
Would love to join you in a reinactment--have always thought that would be interesting and a lot of fun. I've never seen one before--you all looked so authentic! We have a lot of Indian pow wows in MN and manage to go to a few of those every summer here in southern MN but just as a spectator...though they always invite us to join in on some of the dances, and I'm out there tapping/shuffling my feet to the beat of the drums along with my cane! :) They're very gracious. Once one of the older women came up and tied a feather to my cane and gave me a big hug! :)
Thanks for sharing all the photos. It's so nice getting to know more about you and your family.
Hugs and prayers for Noah, Cindy

Just wanted to commment on the pictures and how much I enjoyed seeing all your children. You can sure tell they're siblings! They are very precious!
I have always wanted to check out the re-enactments around here as I know there are quite a few. Where do you go? Do you stay in Greenwood?I would love to come see you "perform" sometime. If you think about it, put it on your blog whenever you go re-enact again. Who knows? Maybe I'd actually get to meet your family. I have kept up with your blog for awhile now and am still praying. Glad to see Noah doing well!
Love,
Sarah

How in the world do you 'ever' discipline your kids? The big blue innocence of Noah, the sweet smiles of Sarah, David, William.....ALL your children are adorable, beautiful and so very sweet. I wouldn't be able to stand it. I can barely handle disciplining my THREE with their big blue eyes....I can't imagine having EIGHT pairs looking at you with adoration.
Thank you for sharing your sweet family!

You two are surely blessed with beautiful children! I loved these pictures. My mom was best friends with a woman who had 9 children. Her oldest is just 15 days younger than we are still best friends. Our families did all kinds of fun things together. Your little Timothyr reminds me alot of their Timothy at his age with the longer brown hair! Our timothy is getting married in a couple months, I can't believe how fast it goes! Treasure these moment! I am glad you have pictures of this day to keep the memory fresh!

My children were by the computer when I checked the blog. They LOVED the tree root picture! Even more, they were excited to see others in Rendezvous clothes!! My children participate with "family" (not blood family, but they are family anyway, lol!) and dress in 1750's period clothes when they are doing rendezvous/reenactments here in WI. My dd has been participating with them since she was 4 and loves it - she is 9 now. The best part is that both children Love to learn about history now because sometimes, they get to "live" in it - and see other time periods as well!

Kate;
I hope these days are filled with precious memories, and lots of joy.
My 5 year old has asked me about 3 times in the last week about how Noah is, so I thought I'd ask!
We are waiting for gastric emptying test results from a dr who won't be in til next week. sigh. It's ok though
