Emergency

Posted in Noah Updates

Well, I promised to find away to update if we had an emergency, so here goes.  Noah has been admitted to Scottish Rite (children's hospital in Atlanta) with suspected sepsis.  We had all sorts of appointments yesterday to get ready for the surgery Noah was supposed to have today.  We got back to the Ronald McDonald House and Noah fell asleep for several hours.  When he woke up he looked rough and was running a fever of 101.1.  We called his infectious disease doctor at home and she said to bring him right to the E.R. here.  By the time he got to a room his temp was 101.8, he was tachycardic, and he was  barely  responsive.

He was admitted and started on vancomycin and gentomycin while his blood cultures grow out.  He is quite anemic and will probably be transfused as soon as he is a little  more stable.

He is a little more perky today but is still feverish and very pale.  He obviously feels awful.  Blog reader Beth came by yesterday AM with all sorts of goodies (balloons, bubbles, Mickey DVD and more for Noah, plus tons of yummy goodies and more for Jeff and I).  She came back up today and helped me movea bunch of stuff from the RMH to the hospital, watched Mary Faith while I showered, and just generally helped in dozens of ways.

My cousin will be delivering the older 6 dc to us on Friday and we are praying that we can arrange for them to stay at the RMH with me.  I'll be spending my days at the hospital and my nights at RMH  while Jeff stays/sleeps at the hospital.

Everyone here has been wonderful and Noah is in good hands - those of the doctors AND of the Great Physician.

I need to run now but will update more when I get a minute.  If you want to contact us, please call Jeff's cell at 864 337 3725.  We can't  check our email here.

Blessings,
Kate

It sounds like you probably won't be able to read this until later, but know that we here at our house are all lifting up Noah and all of you, and his doctors and nurses too.

in Him,
Jean

I was praying for Noah this morning amidst the ongoing preparations for leaving, when your mom called to update me.
May God continually bring comfort and peace to each one of you...I know you are in good hands...know we are thinking about you and praying for you all (including your mom & Tim).

I've been praying for the last few days and will continue to pray. I prayed especially that all of the staff at the hospital would be wonderful for you all. It's good to hear that they are and also that you have local support. If only I lived closer!

Haven't had time to post a response, but have been reading all your updates. So sorry to hear such a rough patch of road for "our" Noah. Will continue praying...

In Him,
Donna C who's mother has moved in with us & so has been dealing with lots of bureaucrats in Medicare and various insurance companies {as she needs eye surgery for cataracts & [hopefully the beginnings of] glacoma}.

Heavenly Father, Great Physician, please heal Noah of this blood infection! Please calm and protect him with Your presence, take away his pain, and comfort Kate and Jeff and Noah's siblings and give them peace as well. Thank you for being trustworthy. We know You are sovereign and Your promises are true. Thank you for giving us Your Holy Spirit, the Comforter Who will remind us of all You have said.

In Your holy name,
Amen

Praying....
And while you have great dr.s at home, maybe THIS was the reason the Father wanted you there.
Praying for the other children, too.

What a blessing that you were near the hospital exactly at the time that Noah needed to be admitted. God had a plan all along to take care of his precious child.
